Do you people play X6? Anyways, I'll explain everything...
If you played X6, you'll know the answer because the poem reflects on the 8 bosses in the game, the Nightmare Investigators.
Unlike what Red Draco said about them, the investigators *never* became marverick!!!! They did little mistakes, needless risks, and errors during their simulations, yet they never killed or harmed a human or reploid.
Gate, who created most of them, created them to be a bit more powerful than regular reploids. This cause the other members of the research team to fear them.
Some, like Rainy Turtloid, had sudicide themselves because they couldn't take anymore of being feared by everyone. Shield Shieldon was labelled a maverick because he was protected a well know professor named Dr. Jim who went marverick and also because Sheldon was made by Gate.
Therefore they (the members of the research team) caused every single one of Gate's creations to fall into "accidents".
To make it worse, they made Aila go and kill off some of them. (i.e: Ground Scarvich, Blizzard Wolfang.) She regrets doing such a thing but she had no other choice.
When Gate went maverick (a month after the Eurshia Crisis), he ressurected his creations and gave they a new duty...spread the nightmare virus in key areas of the world to control the remaining reploid population, making them nightmare investigators. Strangely enough, these investigators were not infected by the nightmare virus.
Proof of this is show when X confronts Metal Shark Player in the Recycle Lab.
Another thing, the nightmare virus is an artificial virus that doesn't destroy reploids...but control them.
I like the Nightmares Investigators. Each of them had a storyline and a connection with Gate. A lot were willing to sacrifice their lives for him. In fact, they even believe the Nightmare will be a way of peace on earth if one person controls everything.
Guess they haven't read Magic Knights Rayearth.
