Wishes

There was a day,
So long ago,
Where a little girl's dreams,
Went untold,
So then when out came,
The first star,
She said,
"I wonder, what you are,"
Then she'd say,
With a sigh,
"Why do you have to be so high?'
Then she begged,
With all her might,
"Please, let me have the wish, "
"I wish tonight."
"I simply wish,"
"On a day near or far,"
"That I may have, "
"A bit of star."

The mystical sky,
Would then reply,
"Then you must make,"
"Your dolly mine."

The little girl,
With a tear in her eye,
Would then say,
"Why must you have my dolly,"
"Why?"

The sky said,
"There is a little girl,"
"Just like you,"
"Whose dreams, it seems,"
"Just won't come true."
"All she asks,"
"Is for a baby to hold,"
"That will stay a baby,"
"Even when she grows old."
"But I have not,"
"A baby to give,"
"Because its wrong to take away,"
"From one,"
"A baby who lives."
"No other little girl,"
"Far or Near,"
"Has such a love for her doll,"
"As you have here."
"You cared for your doll,"
"It's beautiful, you see?"
"And you'll have your wish,"
"If you grant the one from me."

The little girl quickly,
Rushed inside,
To the place she let,
Her dolly hide.
She took her doll's things,
Folded them with care,
And then she brushed, and fixed,
Her dolly's hair.
She explained in the sweet voice,
Her doll knew,
That there was a girl,
Who loved dolls too.
"Now you must go,"
"And make her glad,"
"Because otherwise,"
"The little girl,"
"Will always be sad."
The girl gave the doll,
To the star,
With a note saying,
"Her name is Tina, from a girl, afar."

The star then took the girl,
Far and wide,
For a wonderful,
Beautiful ride,
Now that young girl,
Who wished for a bit of starlight.
Now is the moon,
Who herself, guards the night.
