Dear Max,

I'm sorry this letter must be brief but we're taking the orphans to the St. Patrick's Day parade in a few minutes. I'll probably mail this on the way. Normally, I would mail it later, except this letter contains a matter of great importance.

Don't write back. If you do I don't think I'll have the heart to tear the envelope to pieces. I don't know if I'll even be able to send this.
