James Potter paced his bedroom nervously, unsure of what to do. Well, no. That wasn't quite true. It was more like he was unsure of how to do it. After all, it's not every day that you propose to your girlfriend, and you obviously want to make the experience special for her.

However, pacing restlessly wasn't the way to go. In fact, there was only one thing to do. James closed his eyes, summoning every ounce of courage he had, and opened his mouth.

"MOONY!!! PADFOOT!!! GET YOUR ARSES DOWN HERE!!!"

Sirius Black jumped in surprise as he heard his name being yelled. Well, not his name, perhaps, but his nickname. It was James who was calling, and he sounded urgent. So Sirius put down his quill and ran upstairs. He met up with Remus Lupin halfway down the hall.

"Moony! Do you know whats going on?"

Remus shook his head, and continued to James' bedroom. He turned the knob silently and entered.

Neither Remus nor Sirius could hide their shock at what they were seeing. James' usually perfectly ruffled hair seemed wilted, his eyes were wild, and he had large black bags under his eys. He was wearing a plaid shirt with a pair of plaid shorts. The combination was revolting, especially considering that James usually managed to look good. He wasn't on top of the fashions, but he usually had a general idea.

James jumped as he heard the two enter, but relaxed when he saw them. "Thank God," he said hoarsely. "I need help."

Sirius, who was gaping soundlessly, didn't answer. Remus looked surprised and worried, but managed to ask, "James? Is everything all right?"

"No!' James answered forcefully, making both Remus and Sirius jump. "I'm dying here!!! Please, help!

"James, what's wrong?" Remus asked urgently. "Tell us so we can help!"

"I can't figure out how to propose to Lily!!"

Sirius, who had still been gaping stupidly, closed his mouth. "Propose to Lily?" He said stupidly.

"Yes! Please, help!"

Remus was looking at the pair of them, laughter in his eyes. "James!! Don't scare us like that!" He scolded, though unconviningly. "I thought it was something serious!!"

"It is!" James looked scandalized. It went to show how stressed out James was about this, seeing as he hadn't made his usual "No, it's Sirius!" joke. "I can't figure it out! What if she doesn't say yes? What if she decides that I'm moving to fast and wants to break up with me? What if she-"

"Decides it sounds wonderful and says yes, and you two go and get married happily?

"But it has to be special!"

Sirius came out of his trance. "Oh, James, I have a great idea!"

James gulped.
