Disclaimer: I don't own anything, it all belongs to the wonderful J.K. Rowling.
Well this is my one shot story that I wrote at like 3 in the morning, so if it's not all that good that would probably be the reason. :) This is if things happened a bit differently after Ron made fun of Hermione in the first movie. (you know, right after Charms class where Hermione tells Ron the right way to do the spell.) Anyway, hope you enjoy, let me know what you think. WARNING: Its very out of character but that's how it goes.
To Prove Someone Wrong
Hermione couldn't believe how mean he was. Even if he didn't know she was standing right there, it was still a very cruel thing to say.
'They all laughed at me.' She sobbed to herself as she ran to a small- enclosed place where she hoped no one would find her. 'Right after he said it, they all laughed and agreed with him. How can someone be so mean?'
Hermione backed up against a wall and slid down to the floor and drew her knees up to her chin, and cried.
What Hermione didn't know was that someone had followed her and was now standing off to the side watching her with his pale blue eyes. He stepped forward after awhile, contemplating whether or not he should disturb her.
"You shouldn't let them get to you." He finally spoke in a soft voice.
Hermione jerked her head up at the sound of the voice. She looked up to see who it was. Hermione recognized the boy from one of her classes, but she didn't know his name.
He didn't give her a chance to reply.
"I heard what he said, and I think it was very uncalled for. If I were you, I'd just ignore him. He's a jerk anyway, and the only reason he said that was because he knows you're better then him, he did it out of jealousy I'm sure." The boy said in the same soft voice that seemed to calm Hermione down. He kneeled down in front of her and smiled.
Hermione smiled in return. "You're probably right. I shouldn't let him get to me, but it still hurt. Thank you...for making me feel better. By the way, what's your name? I know I have some classes with you but I never did catch your name." Hermione said in return as she wiped her tears away.
"Oh, I'm sorry, my name is Draco Malfoy." He extended his hand to her and she shook it with a smile.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Draco, I'm Hermione Granger." They both smiled and Draco moved to sit next to her on the floor in the empty archway.
"So how about we go prove Weasley and his pals wrong about you not having any friends?" Draco said with a sly smile.
Hermione turned to him and giggled. "I'd be delighted too."
Again they both smiled at each other while sitting in comfortable silence. Then Hermione spoke in a hushed whisper. "I guess life here won't be so bad after all." She turned to Draco while saying this.
Again Draco smiled softly and said to her in the same hushed whisper so only she could hear, "I was thinking the same thing."
