God Don't Give Up on Us
~*~
A/N: My second songfic! Anyways, I had the lyrics to this song somewhere, but I have it memorized, so no matter! It's set at the point of where Celes is alone on Solitary Island (I'm killing Cid again... I know I'm just so nice to the poor man, I killed him off in The Life of Erin Tribal too. Only because I needed the really good plot advancement, plus, before that point, I'd never EVER saved him before! But I have now). Okay, I'll be quiet and let you read!

~Who will win the holy war?
~Can you tell me what they're fighting for.
Celes' eyes looked across the vast, empty ocean. All hope was gone. She knew Kefka was going to win. There was no way they would regroup and defeat him!
~And do you look down in disgust?
~God don't give up on us.
Celes next looked up at the skies and prayed a silent prayer to whatever god there was up there allowing this to happen. She prayed that she would find her friends, but Celes was highly skeptical. Thoughts of self-suicide were even running through her head.
~Mother Nature shamed and bruised.
~All her precious gifts abused
~Her forests burn, her rivers rust.
~God don't give up on us.
An image of Kefka destroying the land ran through Celes' head on top of all other thoughts. Of all the forests that had burnt, and the rivers he'd dried... Especially all the animals, and probably people, that lost their lives that day one year earlier.
~Don't give up on me.
~Don't give up on love.
~Nothing loved is ever lost.
~God don't give up on us.
Her thoughts wandered to Locke. Could he be alive? No, there was no way. The little flicker of hope that had been burning inside of her went out. She left the coastline and started towards the top of the island.
~We hold our babies in our arms.
~And pray you'll keep them safe from harm.
~In a world that's so unjust.
~God don't give up on us.
As she walked, more images ran through her head of the mothers that had tried to protect their children that day. Of all the people that must've died because of one man's greed.
~Don't give up on me.
~Don't give up on love.
~Nothing loved is ever lost.
~God don't give up
Entering an area with a high cliff, Celes proceeded to the end of the area and looked down the ledge. 'Looks steep enough.'
~For every bullet fired,
~For every soul that's lost,
~Forgive our dark desires,
~And the pain we've caused.
~Please don't close your eyes.
~To the part of us.
~That's beautiful,
~Still Beautiful.
Closing her eyes, Celes edged ever closed to the ledge. Finally, without another word, she jumped.
~How can we regain your trust?
~God, don't give up...
Waves were crashing against the cliffs. A lone body floated in the water, barely alive. Celes opened her eyes and stared at the white sand. In front of her, a bird was standing wearing a very familiar bandana.
~Don't give up on us.~

A/N: Well? This was almost two pages... that's including the first authors note too. I actually did have to pull out the song to do this, seeing as I'm missing the lyrics. Anyways, anyone have some suggestions for another songfic? Review! And please make the suggestion a Country Song, seeing as that's ALL I'll listen to!
