Chapter 1

Courtney Morgan turned over lazily, cringing at the ringing. She felt around for the phone and picked it up. "Mmmm?" She answered.

"Mrs. Morgan?" A male voice came over the phone.

"This is she." She said, sitting up in bed. She frowned when she noticed Jason wasn't there beside her.

"I'm afraid I have some bad news."

Her eyes widened in fear, not knowing what to think. "What—what is it?"

"It's you're husband, there's been an accident." He replied softly.

"Is he…dead?" She asked, choking on the words.

"He's in critical condition at the hospital but Mrs. Morgan!" He tried to finish but she hung up the phone. She pulled on some clothes and ran all the way to the hospital. When she got there she saw Carly crying into Sonny's shoulder and froze. She walked over to the nurse's station. "What room is Jason Morgan in?" She asked.

The nurse looked her up and down. "No visitors."

"Please…I'm his wife and…" The tears that she had been trying to hide started falling freely.

"She just wants to see her husband, have a heart." Sonny said, appearing behind her.

The nurse glared at them both but nodded. "Quickly."

Courtney turned to Sonny, her eyes searching for answers.

"His motorcycle went off the road." He answered, simply.

"But he's a excellent driver! What was he doing on his motorcycle in the morning anyways?"

He looked away guiltily. "He was doing an errand for me."

She nodded slowly, her eyes narrowing.

"They think the bike was tampered with…the police are looking into it."

"What a great help that is." Courtney huffed.

"I'm conducting my own investigation."

"If you hadn't made him go off in the first place!" Courtney started but was interrupted by Carly walking up to them. She looked as bad as Courtney felt. Her eyes were puffy from crying and she was almost ghostly pale. "You should go in to see him."

Courtney walked off after one last look in Sonny's direction and entered the room.

Her heart stopped at the sight in front of her. Jason's head was wrapped in a bandage to stop the bleeding she guessed. There were bruises and scrapes on his face. He was lying there so still and motionless. Courtney pulled a chair next to the bed and placed his hand in hers.

"Please Jason, you have to get better. Not just for my sake but for everyone who loves you." She said this while tears were streaming down her cheeks.
