"Welcome everyone to another year at Hogwarts. As you know there are many
rumours going around of what is going on in the Wizarding World now. Well
the Ministry thinks you are all too young to know. However I feel that you
need to know what is going on. The truth is Lord Voldemort is trying to
gain control of the Wizarding World; he is killing off muggles and muggle-
born witches and wizards. We look to this year's Head boy and girl, James
Potter and Lily Evans, to help keep order in the corridors and grounds. In
light of recent events the staff and I-" Professor McGonnagal clears her
throat. "Well, mainly myself...and that's all that matters...Anyway we have
decided to lighten the mood. This year we have decided to let one house
perform a play of its choice. The only rule is that only people from that
house and any member of the staff may perform. The first house will be
Gryffindor. If the Gryffindor Prefects and the Head boy and girl would find
out what play you are going to perform and hold the tryouts everything will
go smoothly."
Everyone from Gryffindor was very excited about the coming performance; Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were looking forward as well, however the Slytherins were making snide remarks every time they had a chance. "This ought be good laugh." Said Severus Snape under his breath as the Marauders and Lily walked by. "So what should we do?" asked Remus being a Gryffindor Prefect. "How about My Fair Lady?" Suggested Peter. The rest of the Marauders and Lily looked at him like he was crazy. "How about the Phantom of the Opera?" Suggested Lily. The Marauders looked at each other and smiled. Later that week signs were posted in the Gryffindor Common Room announcing when the auditions would be held. Well the auditions were held and they went quite well. A few days later the cast list was posted.

Rehearsals started the following week and within the next few weeks the play was shaping up. The biggest problem was that Lily and Cassi were having some problems hitting all the high notes in their songs. So to fix that problem a voice enhancing charm was placed on both of them. A week before Christmas break signs were put up reading: The Phantom of the Opera:

January 15th, 7:00pm in the Great Hall

Christmas came and went and finally it was January 15th. The Gryffindors spent the whole day rehearsing in the Great Hall on the stage. Seven O' Clock rolled around and all of the students and participating staff were backstage getting ready. Promptly at 7:00 Professor Dumbledore stood up and announced the play and that everyone in the audience was to be polite. With that the lights dimmed and there was movement on stage and then a spotlight shone onto the stage.
