AN/ Takes place after Jess left for Venice. Lorelai has decided to attend a few Friday night dinners with Rory.
"Mom, we're late enough already! You don't need to curl your hair!" Rory called up the stairs to Lorelai's open bedroom door.
They were fifteen minutes late to Emily's Friday night dinner, and they still had a thirty- minute drive ahead of them.
"My hair looks terrible!" Lorelai hollered from her bathroom.
"It looked great twenty minutes ago!"
"That's because the wind was blowing in my direction and I was having one of those perfect hair moments!"
"Mom, please hurry up! Wear a hat." Rory suggested.
Lorelai tromped down the stairs and glared at Rory.
She was wearing a white hat, to match her white skirt and blouse set, "Fine. But if she tries to make me take it off, before I eat my dinner, I'm declaring mutiny!"
"You can't declare mutiny on your mother! It's illegal." Rory informed her.
"I didn't mean her, I meant you. And since when are you a policeman?"
"Since I added the blue and red swirly lights to the top of our car."
"Let's play nice now and go to your grandmothers, eat, get out of there, and eat again at Luke's on the way home." Lorelai said, leading the way to the car.
"Okay."
They both climbed into the car and Lorelai pulled out of the driveway, "We wouldn't be late if you hadn't insisted on stopping by the bookstore for a "few" minutes to see if they had gotten a new shipment of books. And we didn't even leave the store till an hour later." Lorelai grumbled.
"Hey, you agreed to be nice."
"Oh. Truce?" Lorelai asked.
"Truce." Rory sighed, "But I'm not the one who broke the truce in the first place."
"Do you understand the meaning of a truce? It's the thing that you keep breaking."
"Fine."
"We should spit-shake on it." Lorelai decided.
"Mentally?" Rory asked.
"Mentally." Lorelai nodded.
