A/N: You know we all get these ideas in out heads that we can't get rid of, right? And then you just have to put it on paper, right? But then you end up typing it, and publishing it on fanfiction.com, right? Right?? Right?! Okay, my idea's crap, but I'll torture you with it anyways.

~`~Same Blood, Different People: Chapter 1~`~

~`~The Cat's Meow~`~

This story took place in Harry's first year at Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was just after that incident with the mountain troll, so Harry, Ron and Hermione were friends. Naturally.

It started on a Tuesday afternoon, in Potions with Professor Snape. Everybody had just sat down and before Ron could even wonder what horrible potion he would have to brew this time, there was a knock on the door. Snape strode silently over, and opened it up, as if expecting something. There stood Dumbledore (Harry's heart leapt; maybe the lessons would be canceled!), and another girl, about Draco Malfoy's height, but a bit taller. She had long black hair past her shoulders, and wore a clever, sly expression. Her eyes were something Harry had only seen on a feline; they were bright yellow, and had narrow slits for pupils.

"Ah yes," said Snape, beckoning the two in. "This is our new student, Aliyah Smithy. She has been sorted into Slytherin house, and will accompany us in the rest of her time at Hogwarts."

"Hello..." said Aliyah with a small smile. Her voice was sort of like a deep purr, which made the impression that she was a cat very strong. She sat down next to Hermione and took out her books.

An hour later, Harry, Ron and Hermione made their way back to the Griffindor dormitory to collect their books for the next lesson. That lesson had been a very strange one. Aliyah had answered the questions given to her without even the slightest problem, and she finished the potion they were to do in a matter of minutes. Ron had obviously noticed this, because he couldn't help commenting.

"That Aliyah... She was strange. No wonder she was put in Slytherin. I didn't like the look of her that much." He said while stuffing his Transfiguration books into his bag. "I've never seen anybody work so fast, 'sept you Hermione."

"She was probably just well prepared." Said Hermione as she picked up her bag and walked out of the common room and into the hallway with Harry and Ron. "I'm not the only one that knows how to study, you know."

The next morning as Harry went down to breakfast though, he could not see Aliyah anywhere. But down the stairs, he stumbled on something along the way, and fell all the way down. Thankfully, nobody was paying much attention. Standing up, he found it wise to see what he had tripped on so that if it was another invisible step, he'd remember to jump it next time he came down. But what he saw was not a gap in the staircase. Sitting there on the step, was a black cat, eating a small fish. It had looked up to see what had disturbed it, revealing bright yellow eyes. It meowed in disapproval, and took it's fish to another place behind the staircase.

A/N: Okay just say it, my idea sucks. crickets chirp Heh... Well, I'm going to wait for at least ten reviews before I do the second chapter to make sure this story's liked. Yeah, like that will ever happen. You review, I write. Simple enough? does a pathetic impression of Harry falling down stairs Bwahahahaha... Harry's such a loser.
