Peppy Hare doesn't skip a beat
On July 17, 2003, Peppy Hare was at his laptop computer, enjoying one of his favorite computer games, "The Sims", while Fox McCloud and the others were lounging in the house they had recently gotten. Peppy was in the middle of a game when he started gasping for air. Fox was probably thinking that he was scared of something, but then Peppy had then grabbed his arm.
"What's wrong, Peppy?" Slippy Toad asked Peppy, who was hyperventilating and grabbing his arm.
"I feel dizzy" Peppy responded. And with that, Peppy had fallen to the floor.
Unable to rouse Peppy, Falco Lombardi immediately ran over to the laptop and saved Peppy's game and shut it off, then ran and called 911 while Fox McCloud checked for a pulse on Peppy. Finding none, he started CPR while Slippy ran for the automatic external defibrillator (AED). As soon as Slippy was prompted, he had torn off Peppy's clothing and put the AED on him as the voice prompted. The AED had then found a life-threatening rhythm. When he was prompted "Shock advised", he made sure no one was touching Peppy and pressed the shock button when he was prompted to do so. After two shocks, the AED analyzed Peppy's heart rhythm once again.
Finding a steady rhythm, the AED prompted "No shock advised". Peppy's pulse and breathing had returned. At that time, the EMS came and took Peppy to the hospital where he was kept overnight. The next morning Peppy was released from the hospital. The doctor had told Fox that if Peppy ever had another collapse he would have to have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implanted into his chest.
Currently, Peppy Hare is enjoying some of his leisure time, thanks to his co workers and the presence of an AED in the home.
