Judgement call by jepa
Rating: pretty dang harmless
Disclaimer: me own nada zilch nill nothing (not even Daniel... or Teal´c)
Authors note: cause here in my part of the world where still on the fourth season I only recently saw this episode ( The Other Side ) and was inspired to write this by the fact that the confusion, on Sam's part, is what I felt at that scene. So I thought that if I don't get it, would she? I don't know, I really didn't get that part. Maybe I'm stupid:)

She stood there meeting his eyes.
The swirling of the wormhole formed an omniscient backdrop as he loomed over her.
She couldn't believe he'd just said that.
He knew, she knew, what was probably going to happen in a few seconds.
Everything narrowed down to him, her, the rippling Stargate and the sound of her own heartbeat drowning out all other noise from her ears.
What was in his eyes? Who, or what was this new Jack she hadn't seen before? This Jack who had been so greedy for a weapons exchange he had not even bothered to acknowledge his teammates doubts.
For the first time in years she could not read his face like the open book it usually was. Not to imply that the Colonel lacked an ability to conceal his emotions- he most certainly didn't- he had the stoneface expression down to a T. But she knew him to well - they- knew him to well. And SG-1 had survived so any times due to that fact, that they could read each other.
And now there was nothing in his eyes for her to read. But what confused her more was that he wasn't trying to hide anything. It was there in his eyes for anyone to see. Except she couldn't, seeing as she had suddenly become illiterate in the blunt and often crude language that formed the person of Jack O´Neill.
She was jerked out of her thoughts as the iris began closing behind his back. She stood firm and stared at him with her breath caught in her throat.
-thump-
She closed her eyes and swallowed.
How could he, she thought as he walked past her down the ramp. He who had comforted her when the realization that their clumsiness in translating the code had cost three innocent human lives.
Who was this new Jack?
She briefly wondered how she could get the old one back. The one that didn't always follow regulations, the one who would usually be the first to voice their uneasiness.
-The one who's judgement they trusted-
She was afraid. And didn't really want to acknowledge how fragile their trust in each other seemed. She and Daniel would have trouble, she knew, in fully trusting his judgement in the future.
What would that cost them?

Please review with any feedback, especially with what you thought about Jacks reasons. P.S. I did get why he was so eager for the exchange, my confusion in only about this particular scene.
Just to make things clear :) love
