Tears That Set You Free

I remember you
Standing there
Waiting for me
You were like
A waking dream

And when I came closer
As frightened as a deer
You stayed
And stood your ground
When others would have run

I was taken to a higher level
When my lips touched your forehead
My unworthy lips touching
Your soft, sweet, skin
And you did not die

Tears of joy ran down my cheeks
As I kissed your beautiful feet
For I was on my knees
Before you humbled by your presence
For I worship the ground you walk on

And when you cried
Along with me
And as our tears mixed together
I knew then I had to let you go
Because you made me so very happy

And I wanted you to know
The happiness you gave me
So I gave you the golden ring back
As a wedding present
For you and your young man

And when I am gone
You would return and bury me
With the gold ring as you promised
And as you kissed me on the forehead
My tears fell alone

You were happy
And I had to be content with that
For as you walked out
My door for the last time
You took all the happiness I ever knew with you
