The Lonely Position Of Neutral

Summary: Set immediately after season 5 finale. Chris brings the Charmed Ones into the future in effort to change his own past.

A/N: Yes, a Chris fic. I know, this is a popular topic lately. I just want to clarify that I *don't* believe that Chris is Wyatt, or any of the other insane rumors floating around out there. I'm also not quite sure whether he's good or evil, so for the purpose of this fic, he's neither.

Disclaimer: I don't own you recognize, and yeah. You know the deal. Also, the first part of this chapter is from the episode 'Oh My Goddess Part 2'.

"Remember, I'll be watching you."

Those were Leo's last words before orbing out of the manor once and for all. "I'll be watching you." Not exactly menacing, but none too friendly, either.

This could prove inconvinient, to say the least. The last thing Chris needed right now was an Elder breathing down his neck. And so, he did the only thing he could think of. With a flick of his wrist, he sent Leo blasting into another dimension.

With that problem solved, Chris went inside. Smugly, he used his power of telekinesis to swing the front door shut. He could get used to this.

It was quiet inside the Halliwell home. Chris knew that the sisters were in the back of the house with their friends, Darryl and Sheila, and they probably wouldn't be too happy to see him here, but he didn't care. He still had work to do. Defeating the Titans had just been the first step. It would take a hell of a lot more than that to prevent the kind of future he'd come from, but he was determined to do it.

Now that he was the Charmed Ones whitelighter, the task would be a bit easier. He had no illusions about gaining their trust, at least not in time for them to do what he needed them to do willingly, but their was a slight chance his new position would command at least a little bit of respect from them. Of course, there was a bigger chance that it would merely garner more resentment, especially from Piper, because he was doing Leo's job. Chris tried not to dwell on this likelihood.

He got up to the attic, and walked purposefully over to the Book of Shadows. He stared at it for a second in awe of the power that lied between its covers. Then, using his own power, he flipped it open to the spell that would change history.

Just as the pages stopped turning, Chris heard footsteps on the stairs and orbed out.

"I thought I heard something up here," said Piper as she came in with her sisters.

"Well, honey, maybe it was just a mouse or something," Phoebe suggested.

"Um, guys, I don't think so," Paige said, gesturing to the now-open book. "Unless one of you was up here after me, which I don't think so, and I know I closed the book before I went downstairs."

Piper stood next to her, looking over Paige's shoulder. "Usually when the book opens to a particular page, there's a reason for it," she mused.

"What does it say?" asked Phoebe, who hadn't moved from her spot near the door.

"It's a spell to move through time," Piper read. "North to south, east to west; Space is good but time is best; Send us off, we beseech thee; To a future yet unseen."

Piper gasped, and grabbed Paige for support. Chris orbed back in, pushing Phoebe into her sisters as the room started violently spinning...
