A/N: Tracy threw this plot bunny at my head, and it went right for the
jugular. There was absolutely no choice in the matter--I *had* to write
this. It's all your fault, Tracy! :-P :-)

The hallway was deserted, and only the ticking of the clock and the shuffling steps of a patrolling nurse could be heard faintly in the distance. Suddenly, the door clicked open, and Goren immediately staggered to his feet. "Is she--"
"She's sleeping now," Dr. Almonte told him quietly, keeping his voice to a muffled whisper. "It's all over."
"And...?"
The doctor flashed his quirky, toothy, crooked grin at the bleary-eyed detective, the corners of his eyes crinkling up into a twinkling smile, and gently jostled the wriggling bundle in his arms. "Meet Sarah Michelle, born just five minutes ago."
Goren lurched forward, stumbling over his own feet, and held out his hands. Dr. Almonte carefully laid his burden into the waiting arms, then acknowledged his cue and slipped back into Eames's room.
The big man stared down at this tiny thing, with its crumpled face and squirming legs and clenched fists. The odd little creature burbled and gurgled, poking him in the chin with its small fingers and kicking frantically. Then, it slowly opened a pair of wide, inquisitive dark brown eyes and stared quizzically up at him.
And Detective Bobby Goren instantly found himself falling in love.
