"Look, he's harmless." Miroku patted Inu-Yasha's head and tweaked an ear. Inu-Yasha swatted his hand away. "See?"

Miroku stuck his fingers into Inu-Yasha's mouth and made him smile. Inu-Yasha issued a soft warning growl, but Miroku ignored it. He looked at the crowd of people.

'I have to prove Inu-Yasha is a tame demon, or we'll have to find another village to rest at.'

A young boy walked out of the crowd, but his mother dragged him back. Miroku made Inu-Yasha's smile wider. This aggravated the half-demon more. With a growl, he bit Miroku's fingers. Hard.

"YE-OW!!!" Miroku yelled and pulled his fingers out. Inu-Yasha had broken the skin, and they were bleeding. The crowd panicked and ran away.

"Wait! He didn't mean that! He's just tired!" A few people stopped and turned toward them. Miroku put up his hands as if he were surrendering.

"Perfectly harmless." he said. Blood dripped down his hands and the people fled.

"Thanks a lot." Miroku hit Inu-Yasha upside the head.

"That was the fourth village we have been to. Why did you have to bite me?"

"You deserved it. Don't touch me again." Inu-Yasha sneered at him and growled. "And one more thing-"

"Shh! What was that?" Inu-Yasha listened. He heard yelling, angry yelling. He saw the village bullies lighting torches and holding up swords that shone in the firelight. They looked at the two outsiders and charged.

"RUN!!!" Miroku screamed and fled.

"Didn't need you to tell me that!" Inu-Yasha easily beat Miroku into the safety of a nearby forest. Miroku caught up and collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath.

Inu-Yasha smirked down at him. "Baka ningen."

"Shut up. You're one to talk." Miroku glared at him and climbed up off the ground. "Come on, let's try and find another town." They walked off. Miroku peered through the trees. "A village!"

Walking towards the group of houses, they saw a young girl out walking. She saw them and yelled for the world to hear. The entire town came out.

"Look, he's harmless..." Miroku stopped and looked at his hands, which had finally stopped bleeding.

'This won't work. I'm repeating myself.'

He shook his head. "Never mind. Come on, Inu-Yasha. The forest is a nice place to be."

They left the village and walked into trees that would never chase them out with torches.
