Author's Note: I don't own KH or the song 'I Never Had A Dream Come True'. They belong to Squaresoft and S Club 7.

(4/28/05) Since fanfiction dot net has banned the printing of other people's song lyrics, I have been forced to remove the lyrics from this story. But it's really nice listening to the song while reading this at least!

I Never Had A Dream Come True

By Charles Xavier

In the light of the moon on one starlight's night, deep within a watery cavern, a teenaged girl sat alone. In her hands she held an uneaten Paopu fruit, which only made her question about a certain boy…a certain love.

With a soft sniffle from her wet nose, a tear trickled down Kairi's soft cheek. She sighed sadly at the star shaped object behind her long brown curtains of hair dangling in her eye sight.

"It's been four years since you left me, Sora." She whispered. "Why do I still cry in here? Wherever could you be? I always worry about you each night…and sometimes just for a moment I wander if you ever worry about me."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Kairi got up and crawled over to the old stone carving Sora and herself had made so long ago. "After all those years we spent together, why were you scared to say that you…me?"

She couldn't sleep in bed that night, with memories drifting aimlessly in her mind. Either good, bad, joyful, unhappy, anything having to do with Sora. Kairi began to cry again, sinking her face into her fluffy pillows.

"I feel so cold." Kairi wrapped up her chilled body with the bed's blankets and gazed upon a large photo on the wall. It was an young photo of Sora, Riku and herself all in their swimsuits on the sunny beach. The two boys were posing for their shot while the little six year old girl between them was seen giggling secretly. "I feel so cold without you, Sora."

"Why didn't I see it? How could I have not known it sooner and realized how you really felt about me?" She kept throwing herself these countless questions. "I would have understood…wouldn't I?"

The thinking made her finally fall asleep, dreaming away from her home, with one last question remaining: "When will you ever come back, like you said?"

Sora sat beside a dark lake, dipping his aching feet into the cold windy water and staring up at the full moon in sadness.

"Why do I wait so long to break it to her? And why does my stomach still hurt? Does she even know I'm falling in love?"

Goofy and Donald were on the grassy fields, far adrift into dreamland already. Vision of Kairi would never stop haunting his tired eyes, and he still had his jobs to do. "Riku…King Mickey…where could you guys be?"

Sora slipped out a Paopu fruit from his pocket and the rays of the moon shone brightly on it.

"Don't cry, Kairi…someday I'll come back…"

Author's Note: I have absolutely NO idea how many years later KH 2 actually takes place. I only judged it by the looks of the characters from the sequel's teaser trailer from the first KH game.

BTW: I admit that I did get some inspiration of this story from another fanfic.
