Elisabeth Turner closed the piece of parchment, which she held in her
hands. Slowly, she walked over to the window in her bedroom and looked out
onto the harbor, looking upon the shipyard. She remembered being aboard
the Black Pearl, being rescued by her childhood friend, now husband.
Elisabeth walked to her child's cradle and picked up her slumbering baby
girl. She held her in her arms and whispered to her, "Don't worry. You
are father will be home one day soon. He promised."
::Meanwhile::
"What's wrong with you, Will?" asked Jack.
"Nothing, just a bit, tired. That's all," Will lied. Jack could tell something was wrong; blacksmiths hardly twiddle their fingers.
"It's not Elisabeth, is it?"
Will looked up, his eyes cloudy. "Yes, 'tis."
"Do tell details, would you?" said Jack.
"A day before I left, she gave birth to our child, and yet, I never saw her," said Will.
"Damn, man, why didn't you stay?!"
"Because you needed me here!"
"Well, I think your first child is more important than this!"
"Yeah, well...I didn't think."
"Damn right you didn't think! I have a right to turn this ship around right now!"
"No!" the crew yelled.
"Get back to work you filthy scalawags!" Jack ordered. The crew did as they were told. "I want you to go back," said Jack.
"What!?" yelled Will.
"Take one of the smaller boats, and paddle back to your wife and child."
"No, I shall not do that."
"That is an order, Will," said Jack.
"No, I shall not do it," said Will.
"Do it, or you'll be stranded on the island I was on with a pistol and one shot."
With that, Will gathered his few things, and was lowered in a paddleboat into the water.
