*flashback*
The memorie switches to what looks like a few months ahead. Her hair is allmost completly green but it still isn't neon green yet,she looks around for a moment and spots Jerico and smiles.he says"Hurry up or we'll miss it." she quickly walks toward the cargo train and throws her bag in and Jericos when he catches up.The trains whistle sounded and she scrambled in and helped Jerico get in and they sit in the courner talking.
He had a fatherly way about him "You never told me your birthday Aurora when is it?" She looked down "I'd rather not say,i dont want to celebrate it anymore." He noded in understanding
"So do you have any special skill that could keep us occupied on your first trip in a cargo train?" he kept his tone light and cheerfull, she had a tendancey to take things much too seriously.
She nodded and made a rock knife in her hand,it wasnt very pretty but it was sharp and could serve as a weapon if needed "I can do this....i dont know how though"
He looked at it and he smiled "Well i'll be..... i knew you were special, yer a mutant child its something to be proud of but be carefull who you show that talent too."
She smiled and hugged him "Thank you Jerico,i didnt know if you would understand."He smiled and hugged her back.He was more of a father then her own had been to her he knew.
He chuckled and tapped her nose lightly "While we have time lets eat and we can ask questions between bites."
He set out there meager fair ....a loaf or bread, peanut butter and a small jar of jam and began making sandwiches for them. After one each he began to ask more questions.
He swallowed and asked about something that he had been wondering about "Aurora...where did you get that scar on your knee?"
She looked looked up,suddenly broken from her thoughts by the question, and then looked down at her knee which had a long angry red scar down it and was a little misshapen.
"I got it when i guess my mutant powers...came out.My brother scared me,the floor vibrated and then crumbled under me...i fell through the floor and busted it on something going down......its the scar i got from the surgery they did to fix it....my knee cap was broken in two pieces.....its still not right."
The memory faded.
*end flashback*
He watched silently for the most part, tail swaying slowly, now curiously. He'd been on a train maybe once before, years ago, but hardly remembered it. Even a cargo train seemed interesting to him, and oh, the changes Aurora was beginning to display, the pain she'd already felt…
*flashback*
…He was maybe four when the obvious changes began to kick in. He was afraid then—he'd only heard of dead things turning blue, but he was alive and well. His hazel eyes had already changed, that blazing golden color they now were, pupils no wider than a needle most of the time, of course, cat like. The claws had already begun to grow and he'd gotten used to that. He'd almost always had those odd hands and feet and the tail had been with him since birth either way.
He spent most of the next few months in hiding, wanting to fix things behind the scenes versus performing like he was used to, but then he began to get used to it. The blue skin was him, he figured, he couldn't get rid of it for a good long while ahead, and even that would only be temporary…
…He shivered at those memories but settled down again, for a while at least, memories skipping back…
He found himself trapped again once he was inside the mansion, this was strange to him. Wood floors, the scent of wood polish drifting through the air…sounds of the night drifting in through slightly opened windows. His eyes flickered in the light they caught. He peeked around each corner he rounded with caution. He didn't know what he'd gotten himself into just yet.
*end flashback*
She saw more memories from Striker....no one should of gone through such changes...not so young.....one of the institute.....why was he so afraid?......she sent him comfort again....and realised she was too tired to attempt it again.....she broke from trance and opened her eyes and winced at the headache that was there. She hoped whatever she'd done had helped him sleep and maybe figure his memories out a little better. She put a hand to her acheing head and closed her eyes and waited for him to wake up naturally.
His tail gave a few slow sways and he stretched slightly like a cat waking from a short nap. He half opened his eyes then let them flicker shut again. He couldn't look up at her right now. "I'm sorry," he whispered, thinking back to her memories, not his.
She opened her eyes and looked down at him, then tilted her head slightly confused "Ya have nothing ta be sorry fer Striker..i ..i saw yer memories and i think i should apologize....thats never happened before..." the last part she said soflty a little disturbed at the oddness of what had happened.
"I should be thanking you more than anything, I guess," he sighed. He was still tired, but he wasn't exactly ready to fall back into the grasp of his memories. Not yet. He sat up carefully, holding his own head as if it'd keep them away, for a little while at least. His eyes were shut tight and tail now perfectly still, strangely enough. He had quite a bit of a headache at this point...bombarded by his memories. He wanted to know more about his past, but this was rediculous.
She sighed and rubbed her head, then fished in her pocket and brought out a small bottle of tylonal and poped two in her mouth without water and swallows
"Ya still look tired,i dont think i helped at all and it looks like ya need some tylonal too." she said softly and sits the bottle down on the ground next to her.She closes her eyes and leans yer aching head against the trees trunk behind her,one hand to her temple trying to rub the pain away.
After a few minutes she spoke up eyes still closed "Yer memories have been surpressed recently,by what i dunno know but what yer remembering is memories that have broken free of whatever supressed um.I think ya might remember alot of what ya lost soon......it wont be nice when it happens either....one big flood i guess is a good comparison.....right now yer getting the trickles like from a dam springing a leak."
"I am still tired, yea, but you did help more than you know," he straightened up slightly, tail giving a few slow taps against the ground. He looked up at her at last, a small smile on his face. "I was beginning to fear the memories at first...like it was some nightmare, but better for it to flood now than under some other stress. Perhaps I'll understand it at that," he gave a slight shrug. "I thought I was just...going mad."
She smiled a little, eyes still closed "Ya just needed to realise yer memories cant hurt ya,there just shadows of things that've happened and need to be learned from. When ya feel overwhelmed by yer memories dont hesitate ta look fer me,i dont mind helping ya Striker." she opened her eyes and smiled at him. Then began pulling her messy hair behind her head and into a ponytail to keep it outta the way,her shirt sleeve rolled up a bit and the end of a dark tattoo could be seen on her left arm.
"Yes, they can't hurt you...Learning from them...learning from them," he shook his head and sighed then stretched. "I won't forget that offer, Aurora, thank you," he smiled, but it faded before long. He eyed the tattoo, or as much of it as he could see before looking into her eyes.
She smiled "Good and yer welcome,i allways help ma friends." and finally got her hair into a ponytail and pulled her sleeve down a little, covering her tattoo back up.She tilted her head a little "Whats wrong Striker?"
He simply nodded at her words after a little while, tail giving a few slow, curious little sways. His focus on the tattoo had been broken when her sleeve was pulled down again and he spoke again, softly. "What was that?"
She lifted her sleeve a little reluctantly and showed her tattoo..a japanise letter in black ink "Its my tattoo....i got it about 4 and a half years ago, its a japanise kanji it means "peace".I got it after something happened to me that changed my life......" She left her sleeve up and looked down at her hands.
He gave a warm little smile that brightened slightly at the word 'peace', something he'd like to see outside of these walls to say the least. The smile faded into a curious glance. "If you don't mind my asking...what was it that happened?"
She sighed and pulled her knees up to her chest "Well it was a few things that happened accually...... the first thing that happened was i found out i was a mutant...second thing was i found out my parents hated me becase i was one .....and third is i found out they want me dead. After i was att.....well after that i realised i would never have a normal peacefull life got the tattoo to remined me what i want and can never have." she was a little spaced out as she remembered her reasons for the tattoo.
