It's been all day that the gang has been searching for new Pokemon in the forest, but there hasn't been any luck. Ash, Misty, and Brock were heading off to fight Sabrina, the gym leader, who has psychic Pokemon. But catching anything from a forest like Spearow or Pidgey won't get them anywhere.
"OK Ash, that's enough firewood!" Calls Misty. The night was getting younger and the sun was going down so they decided to make camp and start a fire like they do everynight.
"Alright Misty. PHEW! I am beat from all this wood collecting! I need to rest."
"Good, you'll need it for your big match with Sabrina tomorrow."
"Thanks Misty, I know." says Ash, rolling his eyes in a joking way.
Since the sun was still going down over the mountains, it wasn't quite time to head for bed. So the gang put out their sleeping bags all around a pile of logs, where the fire would be. They were freezing, so like every night, they had to rely on Brock to start a fire since they didn't know how.
"So Ash," said Misty, "what Pokemon do you plan to use tomorrow? ......ASH?"
"Huh? Oh, ummm...Maybe Bulbasaur, Charmander, and of course Pikachu."
"Well that's great, goodluck tomorrow Ash!" Said Misty, smiling at Ash. He noticed her great smile, which he really has never noticed before. And her positive attitude.
Ash appreciated the "goodluck" from Misty, and he'll be needed it. And usually he'd be ready. But tonight, he wasn't exactly thinking about the match like he always does. He had another thing, or person, on his mind.
"Hey Misty, would you like to get more firewood with me?" Asked Ash.
"Sure! I'll just put Togepi to bed and warm up my Pokeballs and we can "head out!" Misty giggled whenever she said that, but no one else ever thought it was funny. But tonight, Ash decided to giggle along with her.
"Guys! We have enough firewood-" Called Brock. But before he could finish his sentence, they were out of sight into the wood's darkness.
They only walked a few moments until they stopped to sit on two dead tree stumps. Ash couldn't hold back any longer.
"Misty, there's a real reason I brought you here. See...I've known you for a long time now and getting to know you, I've realized you're a great person..and I have deep feelings for you. Like...I like you more than a friend. Misty, I love you."
Misty was shocked, she had no idea Ash ever thought of her that way. But there was one problem, she didn't like HIM that way. They have been friends for a few years, even if it wasn't supposed to be that way.
"Ash..." Misty said honestly, "I like you too...but as friends. And even if I did like you more, I don't think I'd want to go out with you. Because, what happens if we get in a fight, break up, and never want to see eachother again?"
"I WOULDN'T LET THAT HAPPEN!" Ash screamed. He was so loud he woke up the Spearow from the next tree over, causing it to fall off the tree.
"You don't know that, Ash. And because of that, I think it would be better if we were just friends. But thanks for being honest." And with that, Misty left the area, heading back and leaving Ash on a tree stump in the dark forest. He doesn't like to cry much, but finding out that Misty would never give him a chance, he had to. He let little dropplets of tears roll down his cheeks and fall on the dirty ground.
The next morning, after breakfast, they headed off for Sabrina's gym. Misty hasn't spoken to Ash all morning, and Brock starting wondering why it was so quiet, but he kept his trap shut too. But Misty taught Ash a lesson, though he may not know it. Boyfriends and girlfriends come and go, but friends will stay together forever. Ok, this is my first story, so what do you think? Let me know how you liked my story on a review, whether it's good or bad. Everything would be appreciated, thanks!
