When I am gone
Bulma sobbed as she watched the coffin slowly make it's way down the pit to its eternal rest. Trunks put a hand around his mother's waist, holding back his own tears. How? That's what everyone asked. How was this possible?
"Daddy." Bra whined as she saw the box being covered by dirt.
The prince was dead.
He didn't die in a battle against another super villian trying to take over the universe. No. He died in a battle far greater then that.
A struggle against something uncontrollable, eating him from the inside, something not even his sayain abilities could defeat.
Cancer.
None of them knew how it was possible. Vegeta had never been sick in his whole life, not on Earth or in space. At least, that's what he said.
A year after Trunks, Goku and Pan came back, the doctors found the prince sick. Too late.
A month has passed since the fatal news, and the Z warriors had gathered up.
"Friends and family. Bulma, Trunks, Bra. I-" Goku trembled a little. He still didn't understand how this was possible. The sayain bit his lip. "Vegeta was, well, Vegeta. There are no words to describe our friend. Well, maybe there are. Like arrogant."
He chuckled a little.
"Brave. A true warrior. A never-say-never guy. Tactic genius. Though he never really admitted it, a loving husband and proud father. And of course, let's not forget the humongous ego."
Bit of laughter flew up towards the heavens from here and there.
"I admit, that I am a man of few words, and cannot give a speech worthy of our beloved prince. But I found this poem, written by him, as a farewell, to all those he leaves behind."
A tear rolled down his cheek as he looked at his best friend shaking by the grave.
"When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears.
Be thankful for our many beautiful years.
~~~~~~~~~ I gave to you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it's time I traveled on alone. ~~~~~~~~ So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It's only for a time that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart. ~~~~~~~ I won't be far away. For life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, You'll hear
All me love around you soft and clear. ~~~~~~ And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile, and say
"Welcome Home!"
