Another Chosen One
"The one with power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..." these were the exact words uttered by none other that Ms Sybill Trelawney nearly sixteen years ago. It was a prophecy witch translated means that the one who would defeat the Dark Lord (Voldemort) would be born at the end of July, to parents who had fought the DL three times. This could be any of two boys. Harry Potter and... Neville Longbottom. The last part of the prophecy also states that either the DL must kill this prophesied child or vice versa, for they cannot live in the same world. And the DA would 'mark' this child as an equal. Of course the obvious identity of this mystery child is Harry Potter right? But what if, by some fluke it wasn't Harry Potter but the other boy, Neville Longbottom, who was also born at the end of July and whose parents had defied the DL three times. Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, seems to disagree. Although he did not speak much on the subject he did say that there was absolutely no doubt that Harry was the prophesied one, referring to one line of the prophecy that states, " and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal" When further questioned on what he meant, all he had to say was "scar" and left to attend a staff meeting. Later in the day I managed to get an interview with the famous Harry potter himself, and when asked about Dumbldore's meaning he said that Dumbledore had explained that the DL had been more afraid of him, a mere half-blood, all because the DL himself was actually a half- blood. As impossible as this seem, it does make the prophecy more clear, though we may never know until years to come whether or not Harry Potter is the one who will save us from the Dark Lord's tyranny.
