A/N: OK, this is my first fanfic, so it might not be all that great.
Suggestions would be nice.

Chapter 1: Journey to Rivendell
A group of riders broke the dead silence of midsummer as hooves drummed the earthen path. A young elven maiden rode steadily by her childhood friend, Faelon. Rays of sunlight illuminated her already remarkably beautiful, angelic features. She was an unusual she-elf with silky-smooth hair gold and brown, rippling and cascading to her slender waist. Her eyes were a dark shade of emerald green and blue, which sparkled when she smiled. Her skin was a light golden-cream color that glowed under the sun, stars and moon. She wore a burgandy tunic, a riding skirt two shades darker and light boots. "Look, Lessien!" Faelon pointed at a familiar archway. "Rivendell!" Lessien smiled, making her face even mover beautiful, "It is! Let us hasten! Come, I'll race you!" She took off before the words escaped her lips. "Hey! That's cheating!" yelled Faelon in mock anger as he galloped after her with great effort as Lessien's laughter chimed in the summer air. She rode swiftly through the gate and swung off her horse gracefully and greeted her eyes with the beautiful sight of a land she has not seen for so long. Faelon dismounted beside her with a similar expression of awe as his friend. The summer sun caused the flowers, trees and plants to glow and the air was perfumed with the scent of flowers. Faelon and Lessien began strolling around leisurely when the she-elf noticed a shining figure hastening towards them. "Arwen!" Lessien embraced one of her best friends. "Nae saian luumé!" "It has." agreed Arwen, clasping her hands. The fair elven princess turned to Faelon and embraced him in greeting as well. "You must be weary from your long trip." Said Arwen. "Oh, no! I enjoyed tremendously, actually!" protested Lessien as Arwen's eyes swept over her slightly disheveled hair. "Wild as always..." Arwen observed lightheartedly. Lessien laughed in agreement.

The two friends chattered happily as they walked in thee fine gardens. The sky now had a soft touch of lavender, signaling early evening. Arwen gazed up at the sky.
"I better go back," she told Lessien. "Father told me that more guests will come at this time."
They exchanged farewells and went their separate ways. A maidservant showed Lessien her room. Sitting on the soft bed contentedly, she watched the waterfall roll of the mountains and drifted into daydream.
