Chapter One: Lost
"Tag! You're it Lynx!" Mina shouted at her older brother, skipping along the sand at sentinel beach.
"Oh, am I?" Lynx dashed off to his younger sister, his speed slowly increasing every second. He darted across the old sentinels, each standing tall and proud as if they were new. The gentle ocean breeze swayed the trees two and fro. For Mina and Lynx, this had been their playground for as far back as they could remember. Lynx had just turned 10 years old, and his sister was just about to hit 8 years. "Tag Mina! Now YOU'RE it!" Laughing, the young blond haired boy dashed to the middle sentinel.
"Ha ha! Not for long I'm not!" She giggled, leaving dainty footprints in the sand as she ran. For about an hour this game drifted, till the sun began to set, and the breeze became cool. Each child began to shiver slightly, as the bright sun fell behind the horizon.
"Yawn. Hey sis, I'm getting' tired! Let's call it day." Lynx managed to say, as his eyelids became heavy. But Mina had already dosed off to sleep. Sighing, the small boy picked up his sister in his arms, and started heading for home. When he arrived, his parents were furious. Where had he been for all this time, where had he gone? What if he got hurt? Lynx simply shrugged, and carried his sleeping sister off to bed. He watched his sister for a few moments, and fell to sleep himself.
Morning came, and when Lynx awoke, Mina could not be found. Everywhere he looked, he saw absolutely no traces of her. Only, the window had been opened. "Mina? MINA! Where'd she go? She would never disappear like that." Neither would his parents. They had vanished as well. "Lynx, Mom? Dad? Mina? ANYBODY?" Lynx searched the entire residence before coming to the conclusion that. they were gone. But to where? Alone, Hungry, and worried the young boy sat on the ground and burst into tears. Why did they leave him behind? It was like the world hated him now. Left behind, all alone, and not a soul to talk about it to either. Suddenly, the thought hit him. What if they were. dead? Or being tortured? He simply HAD to do something before anything like that happened. Sure, he was only 10 years old, but he was the only one that COULD do anything. Besides, if he wouldn't do it, who else will? Taking every precaution necessary, he packed up some food, clothes, and a map in his backpack. Dashing out the front door, with nothing but a map to guide him, he began his long journey north.
