//Short and fluffy. Inspired by the song "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon, which is in fact the ultimate Ragetti/Pintel love song. ^_^ Enjoy!//

It was cold in the brig. The Dauntless, while no where near as damp as the Black Pearl, was at least as cold below deck.

Ragetti shivered. Of course it was great to be able to feel at all, but cold was not a sensation he had been looking forward to being reacquainted with.

He looked up and caught Pintel's eye. He tried to smile, but his mouth faltered. Pintel raised his eyebrows and nodded. Ragetti felt a little better.

He sat in the corner and shivered, knees pulled up under his chin. His long skinny arms were wrapped around his legs in an attempt to keep warm.

Despite his hardest efforts, a tear slid down his left cheek and welled up messily behind his right eye. He sniffed. The other men in the cell, talking amongst themselves in low voices, gave him a few dirty looks but for the most part ignored him. It was only soft Ragetti after all.

Pintel noticed. He looked over from his position on the floor. Ragetti couldn't meet his eye, and snuffled rather messily into his knees. He heard Pintel shift closer, and felt a hand placed on his shoulder.

"'Ere, mate. Don't cry." Pintel said softly. Of course, this just made the tears come faster. The moisture behind his wooden eye was causing it to come loose, so Ragetti shoved the heel of his hand into it, and tears trickled down his right cheek too.

"What's gonna 'appen to us, Pintel?" he whispered. "We for the gallows?"

Pintel lowered his eyes and said nothing. This was all the confirmation Ragetti needed. He nodded, his face contorted.

"'Ey, come on, don't fret. We've been in scrapes before, eh?" said Pintel in a cheerful voice. Ragetti smiled through his tears.

"Yeah."

"We'll fink of somefing."

A few of the other crew members were looking at them sideways, so they both fell silent, Ragetti blinking the tears away.

"Anyway." said Pintel eventually, in a voice just above a whisper. "Whatever 'appens… you've… got me, and I've got you. So… it won't be so bad, in the end."

Ragetti looked at him with a tiny smile on his face.

"Yeah."

He reached out and took Pintel's hand. He leaned his head onto the other man's shoulder and closed his eyes. After a while, he fell asleep.

Pintel glared around at the other pirates. They were smirking at him and whispering. "I know." He said aloud, "Like a bloody great child, isn't he?" and laughed when they did.

But secretly he was thrilled.

He put an arm around his sleeping friend and soon enough was asleep himself.

And I can't fight this feeling anymore

I've forgotten what I started fighting for

It's time to bring this ship into the shore

And throw away the oars forever
