"Stop..."

Tsuzuki blinked in surprise. "Hisoka?"

The young boy pushed away from him. Puzzlement made it's way up to amethyst eyes. He was even more confused when Hisoka turned his back and wrapped his arms around himself.

"What's wrong?"

Hisoka didn't answer him. The tension in the air increased more as the silence reigned on. It was Tsuzuki who decided to break the tension and turned Hisoka around to face him.

"Well?"

Emerald eyes turned away from his gaze, but a hand cupped a cheek and forced them back. A gentle smile crossed his face, wanting to reassure him. "I'm waiting for an answer."

Hisoka bit his lip. "I... We..."

"What? Are you afraid?"

"Yes..."

"Of us?"

"No, of the future..."

"Why?"

"Because..."

"Because?"

"Because I depend on you too much..."

"Is that wrong? And I need you just as much as you need me..."

"It's wrong because what if something happens one day?"

"What do you mean?"

"We may not age or be killed very easily, but we can die..."

"Hisoka..."

"If you died... I don't want to even think about it..."

"..."

"...I shouldn't depend on you so much."

"Hisoka, what's important is that you live in the present. Yes, it's possible that one of us could end up dying, but we'll always be together. That, I promise."

"You shouldn't make promises that you can't keep! You can't promise not to die!"

Tsuzuki shook his head. "But it's a promise I can keep, Hisoka. Even if something should happen to me, I know I'll always be here." He placed his hand upon his forehead. "And here..." He placed a hand on his chest and felt the beat of his heart.

"But..."

"Hisoka... Even if we get separated, I promise to come for you. Even if one of us gets killed, I'll come after you. Do you think something like death will keep me away from you? We're partners, ne? And you're stuck with me for good."

And Tsuzuki felt relieved when a smile crossed Hisoka's lips. That one simple smile was just the answer he needed...

As another note, if you liked this fic, PLEASE go read 'Heart to Heart', my other Tsuzuki/Hisoka fic.  I hate promoting another fic in one of my fics, but Heart to Heart is much better and an in depth romance between Tsuzuki and Hisoka.  It's almost complete, but feel free to enjoy what I have up there for now.
