Endless Party

The day was one party after another. Their families were at the beach, chattering about normal stuff while he, Bright, and Amy splashed in the water. A barbecue and cuddling with Amy followed.
He and Bright recklessly decided to race the car down the road. Amy stayed out of it.
They were giddy, stupid, not indestructible. Bright took a violent swerve, panicked. A huge bump shuddered the car. Colin's unprotected body smashed against the windshield. Colorful fireworks exploded behind his eyes.
What a way to round out the night, he thought as his body went numb and his vision black.
