Silent Night

Author's Notes
Nana- mother/ 'mummy' (despite preferring the word Ammë myself, I'm going use the correct Sindarin word, derived from Naneth)
Incidentally, if there are any major clashes with canon or people who just disagree with what's in this fic, then please leave a review saying so (though please say more than "I don't like your story") and I'll see about revising it.
Now, I wrote this fic out of a desire to see how the introduction of Estel and Gilraen into the Peredhil household might have affected the family members. As I say below to estelcontar, despite Gilraen's seemingly passive character, I believe that she was probably a very strong woman. Aragorn grew up amongst Elves, without his father, so all the humanity, the Man-traits, in him are probably from her. My view of her character has undergone a bit of a change over the months, so now I'm faced with trying to do a turn-around with my earlier Estel fics.
Reviewer's Responses
First of all, many, many thanks to Sparx, katiestar, namarie2legolas, Pernauriel, Cathy, and Rhonda! I was greatly heartened to see that you enjoyed it, even though when I read through it again I found it unsatisfying. I've done a thorough revision now, and will probably leave it alone unless some big glitch of canon turns up.
Artermis-E: Yes, I have a tendency towards the melodramatic, I'm afraid. I'm glad you think it still works. I love the twins too, and I immediately saw your point about them seeming a bit young. I've tried to change that, but if it still doesn't work than maybe you can think of it as seeing the scene through Gilraen's eyes, and she sees that at that particular moment they are young and vulnerable.
Dragon- this is for you, sweetie! And don't worry about that silly Ammë/Naneth thing; I personally think that Ammë goes better with Ada, and it doesn't hinder your stories at all.
estelcontar- first, thank you very much for your e-mail on Ion en Erain. I've taken a liking to Gilraen, after discovering that I have no experience whatsoever at writing strong female characters. And though in the books she has a rather passive role, I've always seen her as having a strong personality. As she raised Aragorn, I think that quite a lot of the humanity, the 'Man-ness' in him comes from her, because he grew up amongst Elves.
All of you over at the MC and Twins of Elrond group- Enjoy!
