When I First Saw Your Face-

A poem from Christine's POV. Special thanks to PhantomAria for your constant reviews and undying support, your work is truly inspirational and heartwarming yet sad and down to earth.

The beauty of life

You never got to know that beauty,

For it was snatched from you

The moment you were born

The beauty of your soul

You always knew how to love me

Even when I saw a stupid little girl

With dreams of stardom

The beauty of your music

I would listen to you sing to me

And I would feel the pain

And sadness you were venting

I could see that you longed for something

But I never knew what

Your face

Stupid and incorrigible I stole your mask

The one salvation you had known

Yet the one curse you had hated

I felt my breath leave me

As I stared at this angel's face

The wonder of your love

Yet you loved me nonetheless

You were willing to spend your life with me

And willing to forgive me

And to forget all else

The goodness of your heart

And even though I deceived you

And stole your reason with a kiss

You let me go

And you loved me to your dying moment

And as I sit here watching my children play

I'm glad

Because deep down

I loved you too
