Goodbye
Leia stood out on the bridge in the Ewok Bridge. The celebration raged on below her. No doubt they would be celebrating all night. They deserved it. But the war was far from over.
For her it was only beginning. She had learned only yesterday that her biological father was really Anakin Skywalker, better known as Darth Vader, her most hated enemy. The man who had tortured, betrayed her, and hurt her more than any other creature was her father. She refused to believe it. She simply wouldn't.
"But it's the truth."
Leia spun around at the voice that had come from behind her, "Father!?"
The ghostly spirit of Bail Organa smiled back at her, "Yes, darling."
"What-"
Bail shook his head, "Let me explain. Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, one of my most trusted friends, brought you to me in the middle of night and begged me to take you in and care for you. My wife was so happy. She had always wanted a child but was unable to have any. So we took you in.
I took Kenobi aside and asked about your parentage. He said that your parents were very well known and politically connected people but that I should never ask after your parents, it would be dangerous to you.
I asked again but he said all would reveal itself in due time to I let it be. A few months later, a dear friend of mine came to me dying. She was extremely ill and begged to see her daughter one last time. It dawned on me only then who your mother was.
I inquired about your father but she refused to elaborate. But I knew, deep down I knew your father was Anakin Skywalker. He was the only man your mother ever cared for. But what became of this great and powerful Jedi Knight? No one knew. It was rumored he died in battle with Darth Vader and I let it be at that.
Only on her deathbed did your mother give that deadly secret away. She told me to keep you as far from Vader as possible, it would be dangerous to you. At first I thought it was because Anakin's blood flowed within your veins and Vader would want to destroy his enemies' child but then she muttered, 'Keep her from her father as much as possible.' Then I KNEW, I KNEW what had truly become of Skywalker, though I never breathed a word to anyone." Bail took a step towards her, "Until now."
Leia unconsciously flinched away from the ghost, "But why are you here now and WHO is my mother?"
Bail looked saddened, "I am hear to reassure you that I love you and that I always have loved you as my own, as my blood but now you must let ago of your Organa life."
"What?"
"You a Skywalker by blood, you have found your other-half. The two of you will do great things." Bail's sheer self flickered, "It is time for me to go, goodbye."
"BUT- WAIT!" Leia cried desperately, but it was too late. His ghost was gone. Leia pressed her fingers to her lips and placed them on the air where Bail had been, "Goodbye. Father."
Leia headed down to the celebrations. He was right and she knew it. A new era was beginning and it started with her accepting her Skywalker heritage.
Life was going to be completely different from now on. For her and everyone else around her.
THE END
