Chapter One - Kidnapped
"Not another word."
The man with the one eyebrow kicked him sharply, but he would not submit to this inconspicuous kidnapping.
He was tied and bound to this cart and horse. His kidnappers grabbed and gagged him so that he could not be heard.
The teen was stuck. He had heard too many meetings he shouldn't have, and knew why they wanted him. 'Born a Lord's son, gotta be worf som'um!' He knew that he put his father in danger. He was an easy target for ransom.
He still tried to kick and make life a bit of hell for these men who were carting him away.
But none of them saw the bit of light just approaching over the hills. There was hope yet.

"Quickly! Get a move on! It appears they've no idea we saw them. They've made camp! Think we won't find out 'bout little Will 'till morning. I love the smell of advantage!" said the Lord of Pirate's Swoop. "How shall we move about a plan of attack, Lady?"
"George. This isn't a game. This is our son. Move!"
Alanna and George had been alone when William was taken, save the servants. A chambermaid had come calling straight away when she saw the whole thing from a secret chamber window. They would fight with the servants they had brought as equals, side by side. They wouldn't have stayed behind, anyway. Everyone loved William. Well, not the kidnappers.
All twelve Tortallians moved silently against the black-night sky, their leather shoes making a soft padding noise camouflaged by sound of the dense undergrowth.
