As Lizzie was having the worst day of her life, Matt was having the
best. It was all so weird, One minute her friends liked her and the next
they hated her. She just didn't get it. It was all so weird. She began to
think it was a trick.
Soon enough, the bell rang and school was out. Lizzie sat alone on the bus while Miranda, Gordo, and Kate all sat together. Lizzie kept looking back at them, and Kate would give her a dirty look and Gordo and Miranda would just look back at her.
On the other hand, Matt was sitting with Lany and Melina. They were talking about how lucky Matt had been today. Melina said, " Matt, you won the spelling bee, the spot as line leader, and you won the basketball game at recess. What's up with that?" She said. " I don't know, I just sort of became lucky," said Matt. " You're right, Lany, it is sort of weird."
When Lizzie got home, her mom and dad were lighting a birthday cake. It said "Happy Birthday Matt" on it. "Mom, its not Matt's birthday." Said Lizzie. " His Birthday's not for 5 months!" "Why does it matter?" asked Lizzie's mom. " Um. Because you're not supposed to get a birthday cake when it's not your birthday! And why didn't I ever get one?" She asked as she walked away. She went up into her room and fell on the bed as she thought about Kate and Gordo and Miranda. She picked up her phone and called Miranda. It was busy. She tried about 5 times and finally Miranda picked up. Everything happened kind of like this. "Hello?" "Hi Miranda. This is Lizzie." "What do you want I am on the other line with Kate and Gordo." " Well, I wanted to do three way with you and Gordo, but never mind." "Ok." "Ok, bye Miranda." "Bye." Lizzie thought to herself." What are they trying to replace me with Kate? WE always used to do three way calling!" She went downstairs to wait for Matt. When he got through the door, his mom and dad started singing happy birthday. Lizzie just stood there and rolled her eyes. Then they all ate cake.

Then, Claire, Kate's old best friend, came to sit down near Lizzie. "Why aren't you with Kate, Gordo, and Miranda?" She asked. " Because they ditched me." Lizzie said. "That's what Kate did to me." Said Claire. "I don't get it, one day she just went over with you guys and before I knew it she was best friends with them." Claire said. " I know!" said Lizzie. "Gordo and Miranda did the same thing to me!" Then, they were at school. Lizzie and Claire sat together at school and at lunch. They weren't friends, but they talked since they both had the same issue. They kept seeing Kate, Gordo, and Miranda in the halls. They didn't know what to think of them. They were just like Lizzie, Miranda, and Gordo, only with Kate in Lizzie's place. Once, when they walked by, Kate and Miranda were talking about their sleepover that Lizzie was temporarily invited to. "It was so fun when we changed your dad's shaving cream with whipped cream." Said Kate. When Lizzie got to her locker, there was a note on it that said, -meet me in the back of the room at 1st period, Gordo- Attached to it. So at 1st period they met in the back.
