Elizabeth McGuire stepped into the kitchen of the McGuire residence, her hair dyed black with blonde roots barely showing along her part. It was long, probably reaching her knees when let down, but she had pulled it up into a bun that was held in place by a couple of wooden pencils. She didn't have any make-up on, but she wore silver earings that stuck out like wrenches and contacts that made her eyes look like they were on fire. Her clothes were odd, especially compared to the Lizzie we are familiar with. She wore a tight black shirt with a large white spiral decorating the entire front that had only one sleeve, the other shoulder bare. Over that was a white quarter sleeve half shirt that was unbuttoned. Her pants were black, hiphugging, flared slacks that fell over a pair of flat black combat boots.
David Gordon and Miranda Sanchez were waiting for her in the room she had just entered, looking just as odd to us. Jo and Sam were probably at work, but Lizzie and Matt never saw them. They didn't even care. Lizzie glanced at her friends with a cryptic emotion playing upon her face, taking in their appearances quickly.
Miranda was attired completely in white. Her shirt fit tightly just as her pants did, nearing the appearance of a wet-suit. Her black hair fell in waves down her back, some of which traveled down the front of her. She wore also a black belt with a matching buckle that looked like a rose. Her boots were identical to Lizzie's. On her face she wore white eyeshadow, but black eyeliner and mascara. Her earings were large silver hoops.
Gordo looked unusual in his outfit, also. His curly black hair wasn't at all subdued, but it was longer than it had been a few years ago. Black baggy jeans covered his legs, hiding his shoes completely so that Lizzie couldn't see the boots underneath. His shirt was just as baggy, but it wasn't about to fall off. Neither, for that matter, were his jeans. And on top of all of that he wore a long black trench coat, one he would most likely take off before entering the school and in that way avoid any trouble with the security.
Lizzie smiled without joy at her friends, taking her place at the little island in the kitchen.
"So," She said, looking at them both evenly, "Are you all ready for the last day of school?"
Miranda and Gordo smiled the same as Lizzie had, "I've been waiting for this day since 9th grade." Gordo said, speaking before Miranda. "I know I'm ready after those years."
"Me too," Miranda agreed. "It may seem morbid, but I can't wait."
Lizzie nodded, "Good. We can't afford any ." She said, apparently the lead in whatever they were planning. Both friends tipped their heads forward in agreement, then all three stood. "Don't forget the plan for getting through the doors. It'll be easy if we do it right."
All three walked in unison towards the door, Lizzie leaving first. As each one came to the door, they picked up a black bag from a chair sitting next to the exit. In the same precision, they crawled into a beat up old Pontiac, with Gordo in the driver's seat, Lizzie beside him, and Miranda in the back.
"Let's go." Miranda said from where she was sitting, just as Gordo pulled out of the driveway.
From the window in his bedroom, Matt watched his sister leave with her friends, wandering what they were up to.
