Thin Ice
I'm hanging over the railing, looking down beneath me. I flick over a pebble, takes 20 seconds to make that tap on the ground. A barcode, a virus, a cult, this curse. It's too much for me. Do I leap or let life roll? Gotta keep it together, gotta hold us tight. Nothings stopping them from killing us all except me. I can't abandon them all. Or can I? Leaning farther over, my feet leave the balcony.
"Max! We need you!"
I pause and turn away from the temptation; feet back on solid ground and think to myself, perfectly phrased.
