Chapter one: Death of Shinta (Kenshin)
"Sorry, Kaoru" Sanosuke said patting her back.
"It's all right. I just wish.I just wish he didn't go out alone. I." Kaoru said in tears.
"Kaoru-chan, Sir Ken was protecting you and Kenji along with all of us. He did what he felt was best," Megumi said.
"Mom, please don't cry. Daddy did the right thing," seven year old- Kenji said.
"Yah, Kaoru, we don't want you to cry. We all loved him," Yahiko reassured her.
"Thank you, all of you."
"Kaoru, how about we go and shop, hum?" Megumi said trying to cheer up her friend.
"That would be wonderful, Megumi-san."
"All right then, Sano, you and Yahiko look after the children."
"All right, we'll do."
Megumi took Kaoru's hand and left.
"Daddy, where is mommy and aunt Kaoru going?" Sanosuke's five year old son- Souzou asked.
"Out for a little while."
"Hey, Sanosuke, how about we take them back to the dojo?"
"Yeah, let's do that."
Sanosuke picked Souzou up and Yahiko took Kenji's hand and they left for the dojo.

"Megumi, how do you put up with him?"
"With who?"
"Sanosuke."
"Ooh, Rooster head? I don't know. I guess because I love him."
"How do you get him to really work?"
"He does it on his own."
Megumi and Kaoru began laughing.
"But really how do you do it?"
"I told you he does it on his own. He wants to set a good example for Souzou."
"Incredible, he probably wouldn't have if he was with Sa." Kaoru caught herself before she said the name.
"Kaoru is something wrong?"
"Ooh, no."
"Aren't you going to finish? Even though I know what you were going to say."
"Megumi, I'm sorry."
"It's all right, Kaoru. She doesn't matter anymore," Megumi said with a smile.
"Yes, should we go to the dojo later and fix the boys dinner?"
"Yes, and I'll teach you how to make 'edible' food."
"All right."

A group of shadows followed Sano and the others to the dojo, but stayed out of sight. Sano turned around and looked behind him.
"Sano, is something wrong?" Yahiko asked.
""What? Ooh, it's nothing. Come on it looks like it may rain. Let's get inside before it does."
Yahiko stayed outside while the others went in.
"Nothing? I doubt it."
"Yahiko, is something wrong?"
"Huh? Ooh, Sano, no I was just thinking."
"I know better than that. What is it really?"
"Nothing! Get off my back!"
Yahiko stormed off leaving Sano in the court yard of the dojo.
