An Ode to Sirius Black
Now as we all must know by now,
A man we loved is dead,
They warned him not to leave the house,
Yet outside he still dared to tread.
He went to the aid of Dumbledore,
When the Dark Lord appeared once more,
But then Bellatrix cursed him through the veil,
And he was the first to die in the second war.
Being a traitor to his family,
Hogwarts was his only true home,
With James, Remus, and Peter,
As Animagus, the grounds they used to roam.
James was the brother,
That he had never had,
Remus was a werewolf,
Who thought his friends were mad.
Little Peter Pettigrew,
Was the classic tag-along,
It seemed that everywhere he went,
Everything went wrong.
The Marauders grew very close,
So close they could've been brothers,
Rarely one was ever seen,
With out the company of the others.
But shortly after they left the school,
Peter became a spy,
He would tell Voldemort where James was in hiding,
And James and Lily would die.
Our dear old friend was blamed for this,
And was sent to Azkaban,
No one seemed to care,
That he was not the guilty man.
For twelve long years he stayed there,
Starved and barely alive,
But he escaped through their very fingers,
And ate rats just to survive.
He ran from them for two years,
Until his life came to an end,
Those who remember him well,
Will remember him as a loyal friend.
Now two from the Marauder's number,
Are no longer on this Earth,
The last loyal one remains alive and well,
While the other helped with the Dark Lord's rebirth.
No one can replace who we have lost,
His story tells a tale,
But nothing that we do now,
Will bring him back beyond the veil.
He was a Marauder, friend, and godfather,
And Hogwart's King of Pranks,
He taught us to never give up hope,
And for this we give him thanks.
We all know that your intentions were good,
Your eagerness to get outdoors couldn't be shelved,
But it tears all of us up inside, that you'd still be alive,
If you hadn't left number twelve.
I know not one person who didn't love you,
You were no ordinary Jack,
That's why I wrote about you,
An Ode to Sirus Black!
In loving memory to Sirius Black. May he rest in peace.
