Kenshin Himura
Kenshin slashed his sword around angrily. He had something... no, someone on his mind. A woman that is still close to him even though she was killed.
"Kenshin, are you thinking about Tomoei again?" Kaoru asked, sitting down on the porch. He stopped and turned around and dropped his sword.
"Kaoru..." he started and tears fell down his face. Kaoru came up to him and put her arms around him.
"I know the pain you're feeling and it's hard, but..."
"No! You could never understand... I killed the one I loved... with my sword," he said, sobbing.
"Kenshin, I wish I could heal your wounds. To be with you every day, that is my wish," Kaoru said, putting her hand on his. She smiled at him. He lay his head on her shoulder. She put a hand on the back of his head as he sobbed.
"I can't let anymore people die, especially not you, Kaoru," he said. Kaoru's eyes widened.
"Kenshin, don't worry. I won't be killed easily!" She said, smiling. Kenshin pulled away and laughed a little and Kaoru smiled.
The next few days went by peacefully. Kenshin still had the painful memories of his wife. Kaoru's happy expressions helped him though. Then a dark shadow covered the dojo. A man with black hair and sharp eyes came to the entrance. Yahiko opened the door.
"Hello. Is Kenshin Himura there?" The man asked.
"How do you know him?" Yahiko asked, getting ready to pull out his sword.
"I used to know him from the revolution. May I please see him?" The man asked, smiling. Yahiko let him in and then went and got Kenshin.
"Kenshin! There's a weird guy here to see you. He says he's from the revolution," Yahiko said. Kenshin and Kaoru were sitting, eating watermelon and Sano was standing in the doorway.
"What? It can't be," Kenshin said. He walked out with the others to where the man was.
"Hi there. Would you mind drawing swords again?" He asked.
"Don't do it!" Sano said. Kenshin raised his arm.
"It's all right. But why Toshiro, after all these years?" Kenshin asked, taking out his sword.
"Because you're still a threat!" He said, smiling evilly.
"Kenshin!" Kaoru cried.
"Stay back!" He replied. Kaoru stepped back as the two began. Their speed almost matched. But then, Toshiro caught Kenshin off guard. He slashed at Kenshin's side and blood covered his sword. Toshiro laughed as Kenshin covered his side with his hand.
"You have gotten rusty on your skills. Now I will finish you off!" Toshiro cried. Kaoru ran in front of Kenshin the moment before the blade hit him. Kaoru's left side was cut from her shoulder to her foot and her side was bleeding a lot worse than Kenshin's. She fell onto his lap. Anger raged in his eyes as he looked at her.
"Damn you! Why did you..." Kenshin started. Toshiro put his sword away and walked out of the dojo.
"Kaoru!" Yahiko cried. Sano ran to find Megumi.
" I couldn't... let him kill you," Kaoru said, in pain. Tears fell down his face.
"I would have been... fine," he replied, wincing. A minute later Megumi came with medicine and bandages. Both Kenshin's and Kaoru's wounds were taken care of. But Kaoru was still unconscious.
Finally, after a night had passed, Kaoru awoke. Kenshin was leaning against the wall.
"Kenshin..." she said. He woke up quickly and saw her awake.
"How are you feeling, Miss Kaoru?" He asked.
"Better now... um, Kenshin?" She asked, getting up half way.
"What is it?" He asked. Kaoru blushed and wince, holding her side.
"I love you!" She said. Kenshin blushed a little and moved forward.
"I... love you too," he said. They touched lips and hugged. Nothing after that ever threatened Kenshin Himura again.
