It has been two years since the group of shard hunters has beaten Naraku.
When the last Shikon fragment was taken from the corpse of Sango's younger
brother, Kohaku, the shard instantly flew to Kagome's hand and purified. A
pink-white light surrounded the battlefield and when the light cleared
Kagome had disappeared, taking the Shikon in the process.
Returning to Kaede's village, they found Kikyo in the process of a making a massacre of her own village. Inuyasha killed Kikyo in his rage of her betraying him. Running to the well, Inuyasha jumped in only to find it was sealed. He fell into depression and left, Sango, Miroku, and Shippo haven't seen him since that moment when he killed Kikyo. Sango and Miroku got married, and kept Shippo as their nephew.
As for Kagome, she was very behind in school, but she managed to pass high school and college top in her class. She moved out of the shrine and opened a club called 'Midoriko' near her condo in downtown Tokyo.
The Shikon, well for the item that had caused nearly everyone pain, Kagome had found it on a chain around her neck. She made a wish on the Shikon...
Flashback
"Huh? What's this?" Kagome pulled off the chain that held the Shikon. She gasped and tears pooled in the corner of her eyes.
"No...no,no,no!" She ran to the well and jumped in, only to find it was sealed. Climbing out of the well, Kagome ran towards the Goshinboku. She fell at its base and looked to the darkness of the night sky.
Putting all of her feelings out in a single yell, she screamed her pain, "NOOOOOO!!!!" Collapsing to the ground she whimpered. She reached for the Shikon, which she had dropped.
"Please let Sango, Miroku, Inuyasha, and Shippo live long enough to see me again." The Shikon glowed soft pink before disappearing.
End Flashback
So this brings us to our story of the present...
