Vash the Stampede was happy. Lately he had been sleeping the best he had in a long time, all thanks to the figure next to him. Sighing, the Humanoid Typhoon nestled his cheek in her black hair. Yes, he could definately get used to this. "Thanks for everything," Vash muttered, before slipping into another peaceful night's rest.

The next morning came too soon for Vash. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, stretched his arms and yawned, before allowing his upper body to fall unceremoniously back onto the bed. The blonde gently stroked the head of the insomnia-curing angel next to him. He really wanted to talk to her about...well, everything. He wanted to know more about her, and why she stayed with him like she did. He wanted to know why she made him feel so safe and secure, and why she always kept him company when he needed it the most. Vash wanted to know a lot, but he knew he'd never get an answer, so he figured it would be pointless to ask.

After a few minutes, she finally awoke. No words were spoken, she just stared at the man with her probing eyes. Just like always. Vash smiled then looked at the small clock next to the bed. She'd usually be gone by now...she always left before anyone got the chance to know. Not that he minded, really. He saw her randomly, yet expectedly, throughout the day, and he knew that she'd be back with him by bedtime.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Both occupants of the bed remained in place, not expecting company. Without waiting for an answer, the meddler behind the door welcomed themself into the small room.

"Vash, we just wanted to tell you that breakfast is almost--What the hell...?" the intruder stopped in mid-sentence, obviously confused and disturbed by the sight before them.

"Meryl, I can explain!" Vash cried, slowly becoming aware that what had taken place between him and his bedtime buddy could definately be taken the wrong way, a very bad way, to the underinformed.

The other occupant of the bed looked at Meryl panickly, before darting over to the window. She let out a quick "Mrow!" before leaping out the window and running back to...wherever it was Kuroneko stayed when she wasn't stalking Vash.

THE END!

Hooray! I really wish I knew what the hell I was thinking when this idea popped into my head...but...yeah. I blame my cat. She stalks me, and at night she sits next to my head until I fall asleep, except sometime afterwards she ends up sleeping on the computer chair which is about a foot away from my bed. Rock on, stalker kittycats!
