A Bowling Ball

-

        Y'think ya know someone – really, truly, honest-to-God know someone – when they drop a two-ton bowling ball on your foot, which usually completely changes how y'think about this person.  I mean, it's not like I'm a moron, I was startin' to tell the kid wasn't exactly like he used to be and that he was actin' a little weird, but it was still like getting a bowling ball plopped square on my foot.  Not that Ta-kun'd find it easy to lift a bowling ball, considering how small he is, but he surprises me anyway, all mature and serious (right before the Medical Mechanica starts rippin' out of his head again), and still a kid, anyway.  He probably could lift a bowling ball that weight a coupla tons, just to prove me wrong.  It's a metaphor, anyway.

        He really oughta be older than he is, the way he carries on like an adult or something.  Ya'd think he's some frazzled twentysomethin' half the time, even with that little kid face of his, almost always glaring or lookin' unhappy.  Sheesh is he stressed!  If I so much as looked at 'im weird, he'd start inchin' away like I was gonna start wailin' on him with my guitar for some half-assed reason.  (And, yeah, okay, maybe he had a little basis for that.)  So thinkin' on it, maybe I should've noticed something, with how he wasn't really flinching or acting like I was a psychopath anymore.

        But still.  Like a sucker punch in the kidneys, 'cause it's not like I was actually expecting Ta-kun to up and confess he loves me (but y'know, I'm kinda glad he did, 'cause I could sorta tell).  And like in all the movies, he goes and kisses me, and he's this kid who isn't even a teenager yet and a midget besides – ya know what I mean.  I'm practically the adult, and he's a preadolescent or whatever, which is cool with me – ya think I care he's a kid?  I'm a babe, I like who I like, and besides, like I said before, he might as well be an adult the way he carries himself.

        I figure, I act like a kid most of the time, and he acts mature most of the time, so it's balanced: we're on a level playing field.  But hell, I really don't care anyway: he's cute, and really sorta sweet, and adorable when he's mad.  Y'know?  He's funny when he gets all flustered, sweating and scowling and tryin' to kill ya with a glare, but his resolve is crap, 'specially when ya get that one spot right behind his ears: wriggling and giggling while he's protestin', and y'know he likes the attention.  I mean, ya gotta remember he's still a kid no matter how grown-up he acts, and kids love attention.  Especially when it's a gorgeous babe like me: Ta-kun couldn't help himself, I expect.

                Not that I could, either, and I'm kinda selfish, too – I'd like to drag 'im off with me.  Sheesh, I'm not gonna assault him (well, no worse than usual), just…well, I guess I really am sorta selfish.  But hey, I'll be back, and as long as that Mamimi chick doesn't brand him, at least I know he dropped the bowling ball on my foot.  It's a metaphor, y'know?

Notes: It's more comic than fluff…anyway.  Ficdiary contains better stuff than this.  ^^;
