JUST ONE NIGHT

He walks the halls
Silent and brooding
Black eyes that pierce my soul
He is braver and more courageous
Than any man I have ever known
Silently suffering the reproachful looks of the ignorant
Those who have no idea of what he risks
And sacrifices everyday
No one sees this knight in tarnished armor
For what he truly is
See that under that hard exterior
Is a scared and angry little boy
Different and unaccepted
Tortured
How could he not turn
Angry and confused
A young lost soul
With so much pain
And a longing for acceptance
He is not to blame
We are
But his heart was too good
His intelligence too great
Not to realize his mistake
Not many have the courage to admit when they are wrong
Not even for a small mistake
But he did
And has spent his time trying to atone
For a mistake we forced him to make
And refuse to forgive
Even he thinks he doesn't deserve forgiveness
Yet he forgives us
What I wouldn't give
For just one night
To hold him in my arms
And show him that he is loved
