Ash: 11, Misty: 13, Brock: 17
Ash lain, sprawled out of his sleeping bag, dripping with sweat and breathing immensely. His pupils moved swiftly throughout his eyelid as if he were awake, discovering a new place. His face held a pained expression and his eyebrows were scrunched together. "…no, lemme out…" he exhaled, "no!" Ash's eyes snapped open and he instantly sat up still breathing as if he had just ran an extreme distance. A few tears fled from his eyes as he placed a shaking hand over his cheek to wipe them away.
He let out a small, ragged breath. "M-Misty?" Ash whispered, careful not to wake Brock. Nothing came from her except for a few light snores. Ash crawled over to her and kneeled over her sleeping form and poked her. "M-Misty…?" he stuttered again, tears still falling.
"Hmmm…?" Misty moaned as she slowly rolled over and looked at Ash, wiping the sleep from her eyes. "What's wrong?"
"I-I can't s-sleep-p…I k-keep hav-having th-the same n-nightmare-re…" he sniveled.
Misty sat up. "Ya wanna talk about it? That always helped me, just to let it all out," she yawned.
"I-I g-guess…" Ash looked towards dark forest for a second and then brought his attention back to Misty, "well, I-I was in t-this building-ing and it w-was r-really o-old and a-abandoned. I-I was st-stuck on t-the very top-p floor, "Ash's stuttering slowed down as he took a few deep breaths, "because…y-you left me and locked m-me in…"
Misty criss-crossed her legs and looked into Ash's eyes, "go on."
"It was really d-dark and I was afraid…s-soon I couldn't-t breathe, I tried and tried to breathe but I-I couldn't and I tried to y-yell for help but no sound came o-out because I couldn't breathe, it felt l-like my lungs j-just stopped working and then there was b-black…."
Misty took a few seconds before answering. "You know I'd never lock you up or abandon you, Ash."
"I-I know."
"Come 'ere." Misty gestured Ash into her arms. Ash grasped Misty tightly and Misty rubbed his back to comfort him.
Ash pulled out of the hug, "thanks Misty you're a great friend."
"Don't mention it, especially to Brock…"
"What'd you say? I didn't get the last part." Ash asked, a bit confused.
"Never mind. Ash, if you ever have a dream like that again, you know who to come to."
"Yeah, Brock!" Ash teased, Misty whacked Ash with her pillow.
"Hey! I'm just kidding, you know I'll come to you."
Misty grinned, "yeah."
A noise shuffled and a muffled voice spoke words across the camp, "Nurse Joy…will…go out…date…me? You…get…flowers…."
Ash and Misty snorted at Brock's sudden bribing words in his dreams.
"Impossible, he'll never get a date!" Misty chuckled, "not like that!"
"M-Misty?"
"Huh?"
"M-maybe y-you and I-I-I c-could h-hang out t-together, j-just y-you and m-me…?"
They both blushed a crimson red, "I'd l-like that, A-Ash."
"Well, n-not like a d-date, j-just h-having f-fun t-together."
"Y-yeah. O-of course-se."
No one spoke for a few minutes.
"Goodnight M-Misty." Ash smiled, his cheeks still a pink, as he climbed back into his own sleeping bag.
"G'night Ash…" Misty lain back down and they both headed for a dreamless sleep.
Soon enough Ash and Misty were asleep and Brock chortled to himself, "I knew it'd work…hehehehe…."
