Pepper told Trunks that living with the Son family for a few months was something she didn't want to do because it was too close to where LaToya had died. So they moved back into Trunks' childhood home.

Months passed with no solution to LaToya's death. However, things went from bad to worse. Pepper had killed herself via an overdose of painkillers. And Trunks had gone back on drugs. (Trunks was secretly taking drugs in his teenage years.) And once again only Goten knew about Trunks' new addiction to drugs (Goten also knew that Trunks' started taking drugs when he was 15, his teenage addiction ended when he was 17)
