Someone From His Past By Ariana Hergan

Prologue

The ten year old, Tommy Oliver and Riley Barnes were in the karate tournament in New York City about two battle each other. The two fourth graders were the head of there classes. The had each started training for the brown belt this year and they would get it after the tournament.

"Think a girl like you can beat me in karate?" Asked Tommy

"Think a boy like you can handle a severe butt kicking, from a girl like me?"

" Let's see how you actually do before you talk. Let's start this match." They bowed, Riley was kicking and punching every move she got Tommy was so surprised he had to stick to defense almost for the whole time. Finally Tommy kicked a roundhouse while she was punching him. Surprisingly enough though, Tommy found that Riley had back flipped and landed on the other side of the mat.

"Let's just call this a draw." Decided Sensei before they hurt each other. After they each gained their brown belts, Riley was getting ready to leave. Just as she walked out the door Tommy had caught up to her.

"I'm sorry the way I acted."

"So am I."

"It's just that whenever a girl is even just in the same tournament not even my opponent, I don't know it sounds dumb."

"I bet it won't. Tell me."

"Well. It makes me fell like I'm weak or something. Because if a girl is in the same thing as me maybe I'm weak."

"Tommy. You're not weak! You're the only guy who has even come close to defeating me. Well, besides a black belt."

"Really?" "Uh huh." And that was the beginning of a great friendship.

Three years later.

Riley and Tommy are on the plane coming back to New York from Rome with their grade. The two had been friends since the fourth grade. They had started dating that summer at the age of thirteen.

"Goddess, I can't believe you!" Said Tommy

"Why not?" She replied

"You got a tattoo!"

"Damn you, Tiger! It was your damn idea!"

"You know, that was a lot of cursing."

"Shut up."

"At least I got it on my shoulder."

"Your Mother won't be happy."

"She knows! She gave me permission! Anyway, You got one also!"

"But I at least got something cool!"

"A White tiger. So cool." She said without enthusiasm

"It's better than a Goddess of the Night."

"Hey! You said something strong yet beautiful like me! You call me 'Goddess' so I picked that! I like it!"

"I picked the tiger because that's what you call me!"

"Well, right now you're being a jerk! So you should have gotten 'Jerk'!" Said Riley. Tommy leaned forward and kissed her. "I love you to, Tiger."

"You do know that I'm moving to California, so when the plane hit's the ground I'll be flying to California. So this is goodbye, Goddess."

" I love you, Tiger, always know that." She kissed him. The plane landed fifteen minutes later when they met up with Riley and Tommy's parents.

"Why don't we give the kids time alone to say goodbye?" The parents left them alone.

"I love you. Never forget that." They started kissing until Tommy realized that Riley was crying.

"What's a matter Goddess?"

"I'm going to miss you so much. I don't want to let you go." She kissed him again.

"My parent's are calling me I have to go but before I do I want to give you something." He took out a gold necklace that had 'Goddess' and 'Tiger' written on it.

"I love you." They kissed for the last time and he left.
