"Everyone!" Gil Grissom yelled, trying to make himself over the racket consuming the break room. He had his arm wrapped protectively around Catherine, his wife on two years, waist. "We have an announcement to make" The noise slowly dwindled to silence and Sara and Nick were able to keep their hands of each other to listen. Grissom was about to commence talking when his wife elbowed him sharply in the ribs.
"Ouch. What was that for?"
"Lindsey" she hissed at him
He gazed in the direction of his stepdaughter and noticed she was oblivious to what was happening. An accident just over 2 months ago had caused Lindsey to lose her hearing. She had been riding behind her cousin on a motorbike and had slipped of the back and was now profoundly deaf (A/N: Happened to one of my close friends). She had adapted well learning sign language and going to a school for deaf children.
"Greg, could you...?" Grissom started gesturing at Lindsey
"Oh right" Greg responded and tapped Lindsey on the shoulder and directed her attention to Grissom and Catherine.
"Sorry" she signed
"That's alright" Grissom signed back
"Right as I was saying, we have an announcement to make. Catherine?"
"I'm pregnant"
"We couldn't hide it from you guys for much longer"
"Oh my god Cath. That's great! How far?"
"About 5 months" (A/N: Before you start saying that it would be noticeable by then one of my teachers was 5 1/2 months pregnant (second child) before anyone noticed anything)
The two women hugged, then Nick stepped forward for his followed by Greg. Only Warrick sat in silence staring at the scene before him. Catherine began to walk towards him. She was about halfway across the room when her head began to swim and her vision went fuzzy. She then was aware of the floor rushing towards her as she collapsed in to Warrick's arms
