Those Two

By cs-eye

The Breakroom

Nick

Grissom and Sara. They're in the same room… But at the same time they seem to be on opposite sides of the state. Oh, boy. Will it always be like this between them? Grissom, look at her. She's practically yours. All you have to do is say something. Do something. C'mon!

Warrick

Good thing I never placed a bet on anything that Griss and Sara would get together anytime soon. Hah. They care about each other and all, but… Oh, well. I'm not holding my breath for any of them making a move now. Looks like the tension has just inched a bit higher… Hey, where's Cath?

Grissom

Why are Nick and Warrick looking at me like that?

Sara

Why are Nick and Warrick looking at me like that? Do I have something on my shirt?

Brass

These two geeks have this mind-meld thing going on yet they don't know they actually want each other. Bad.

Catherine

Why is the breakroom so quiet? Everyone's here but no one is talking. Well hello, Mr. Brown… Looking fine, as usual.

Warrick

She's here. Fine, so fine.

-=-

Ahem.

"Oh, hey Catherine. Didn't see you come in," Brass started.

"Hi. So," Catherine said, looking around, "What's going on?"

"Oh, nothing. Just having some coffee…" Brass replied, walking over to Catherine.

"And trying to wade through the thick air of tension surrounding this room," he whispered. "I'm off. I've got some things to do."

Brass gave a quick nod to all the other CSI's, put his mug down, and left.

-=-

Catherine

Oh, I see. Those two are acting weirder than usual.

Nick

Maybe Catherine can do something about those two. Can't she?

Catherine

Don't look at me like that, Nicky. I'm not getting in between those two anymore.

Nick

Damn. There's that don't-mess-with-them-anymore look.

Warrick

Why are Cath and Nick looking at each other all funny? I wish she'd look at me all funny.

Catherine

Honestly, I really don't know what to do with those two. They're old enough to do what they want. If they don't want to admit their feelings (which I think actually do exist) then it's their loss.

-=-

"Alright, here are your assignments. We've only got two cases tonight. Warrick and Catherine, you've got a DB at parking lot of VQ Mall. Nick, you're with Sara and me. We've got another DB in the desert."

Nick

I'm with those two? Oh, boy. This is going to be one long shift.

Warrick

I'm with Cath? I'm with Cath!

Catherine

Okay, time for work. I feel kind of sorry for Nicky.

"Uhmm, Nick, actually you're working with us on the same case, but I need you to go somewhere first. Is that okay?"

"No problem."

"Here, this is the address. Details of what you have to do there is on the back."

"Okay, boss."

Nick

Thank God.

-=-

Warrick

Okay, we're off.

Catherine

Bye, all.

Nick

Bye.

Grissom and Sara were left alone in the breakroom, sitting on the opposite ends of the couch.

-=-

Sara

So we're alone.

Grissom

We're alone.

Sara

Just the two us.

Grissom

Just the two of us.

Grissom and Sara looked at each other. Sara smiled. Grissom smiled, too.

"Hey."

"Hey yourself."

"We're all alone."

"You still have impeccable investigating skills, Ms. Sidle."

"I learned from the master."

"So, would you like to slide over here and give me a little kiss?"

"Why don't you slide over here and give me a little kiss?"

Grissom sighed audibly, and did as he was told. He didn't give her just 'a little kiss', but a very passionate embrace as well.

"So, do you think anyone has noticed anything?"

"Nah. They don't suspect a thing."

"That's okay. I'm happy to have 'this' as a secret for now."

They walked out of the breakroom smiling contentedly at the world.
