Author's Note: I have never read a fan fic about how Inuyasha got his fathers grave in his eyes. This is my interpretation. Hope you enjoy

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, though I wish I did.

Black Pearl

The boy lay on the table; tears of blood were still flowing from his closed eyes. This boy's life has been hard, but now it will become even worse. Both demon and human are plotting to kill him. For his father gave him a gift, but also a curse just like his life already is.

+++ (Flashback)

The battle among the demons had been bloody and deadly. Why did they decide to attack now? Why did they have to take him, our king? He has not died yet; his mangled body still draws breath, though it is a struggle to do so. The soldiers surrounded him and mourned him. Their king was a powerful demon and ruled the Western Lands with great strength, but the attack came as a surprise, no one was prepared. Though we won, we also lost our king. Because I am the second of command in his army, I kneeled down to him.

"My lord, let us move you, we can heal you," I said.

" No my time has come, but listen well." he paused as he started to cough violently, blood sprinkled over his hand. "Listen, for what I have done, if I remain in my family grave, I will have no rest after death. I decided that I am to be buried in an unsuspecting place," he said while his voice became more raged until he could not help but whisper. I bent down closer to hear where his resting place will be.

The boy ran through the forest away from the demons chasing him. They spurted out curses as he ran away. He was aware of the mass, but not me as an individual. I signaled to the demons to slow their pursuit and I continued on. The boy came to a clearing in the forest and stopped, he waited, trying to sense them. He began to relax when he felt safe. I hid behind the leaves, watching his weakness, though it cannot be seen as a weakness for he still was a child. I decided to strike when his heart calmed and I could no longer hear it in my ears. Before he could move to run, I came upon him. He struggled against my hold but I was stronger. Drawing out the plant, I shoved it down his throat, clasping my hand over his mouth; he couldn't help but swallow the plant. His struggles slowed and he finally collapsed in my arms. Picking up his small body I prepared to head to the kingdom and prepare for the ceremony.

+++ (End of Flashback)

The power of the plant wore off on the boy as the ceremony began, I could not help but feel sorry for what he was about to go through. The low hum of the demons signified the beginning of the ceremony. The boy struggled on his confines across his wrist and feet. As children always do, he closed his eyes in fear. I forced his eyelids up and held them there. A minion came forward holding a round pearl on a pillow. Another minion drew a knife from his robes, as the knife came nearer to the boys' eye he began to struggle more, but I held his head in place. The knife punctured the thin covering of his eye.

His scream blocked out the humming of the demons. The minion holding the round pearl forced it into the opened wound of the eye. Hands covered his eye, as he began to cry words were whispered into a rhythm, the wound sealed as the boys screaming stopped. Tears of blood fell down his face.

"Remember in the back of your mind, black pearl on the right."
