Hidden in my Heart.

By HuntressDiana.

Well, I was bored one day when I was meant to be writing a history paper. The first verse was what came out of that. And I was bored again the next day so wrote the rest.

How is it? I know I am not that good at poetry, but this isn't as bad as some of my other efforts…

I know that this is hard to say, but…

No, I cannot say it.

If I cannot say it, then you might not know it.

But if I do not say it, and you do not know it,

Shall we always be apart?

Or shall we look into each other's hearts?

And find the strength to say

"I love you so."

But still, I hesitate,

What if you do not feel the same way I do?

I know you did.

You used to.

But do you now?

My hand hovers by your door.

And I wait, worrying, waiting.

I sigh and rest my head against the cool wood.

And imagine you are close to me

Are you sleeping? Or reading?

Or perhaps thinking. Of me?

I hope so,

But my common sense quells the hope.

I turn to walk away and then I stop.

You are there.

You say my name as you used to,

And I freeze.

At your word I enter the room,

And the door closes behind me.

I struggle to find the words,

But they don't want to come.

They want to stay tight,

Hidden in my heart.

For if they are allowed to escape, they can hurt me.

I realise suddenly, in a flash of understanding,

What has held me back all these years,

From speaking the truth.

I am afraid.

People think I am infallible,

That I am never afraid,

But I am.

I know that these three little words

Are dangerous.

They can break a heart of the answer is 'no'.

They can kill a dream,

Fell a nation.

They are deadly.

But perhaps, if used in certainty,

They can be great and good.

I am certain now,

I am not afraid,

So I cross the room,

Lay my finger on your lips,

And say "Hush."

And you do as I command.

Then in the silence that follows,

I speak those three words

And say to you.

"I love you." Still.

And you smile at me,

And say

"I know. And I love you too."

I'll always love you,

And I'll always be your champion.

You'll always be my king.

But together we shall be,

The Burning Bright one,

And her Night master.

This can be changed for many pairings I suppose, but I had just written something for Lady Storm just before so that's how it turned out!

What do you think? NO FLAMES PLEASE!!!
