If all that we wish to be done, were to be undone, the world would slide, wordless and silent, between the lips of the wound, and out, out into the endless night that knows not breath, nor hope, nor hatred.

Not one among us would remain to bid the empty eons their final farewell, nor grieve for the giftless giving. No note then, no cadence nor languid lament would there be for a world that never was and never might be.

And you and I and all the starry seams of heaven would, unravelling with one last sigh, go in stately march out beyond sense and being, our tempo kept by Time's hand... until ... until all darkness, all light and all that was, had never been and never would. And all sleeps and slept, and shall sleep until even divinity in dementia dies. All - embalmed in the ancient Now of Nothing's cozening clasp.

And no breath of black bile, nor heart's blood, nor sorrow itself would therein disturb the never-and-always. Without time, without space, without this or that. Free of blazing heart-fire burning the veins and searing the heart.. Free of desire and its satiation... Alone. Empty in an emptiness with neither beginning nor ending, high virtue nor cruel vice.

And yet ... and yet I still wish the doing undone, the blood unspilt, the words unsaid, the oath untaken. I would wish the stars from the heavens and the heavens from the earth if only I might see again with that clear sight that once I had. What a music I then would make, of surer note than any I e'er had sung...! Of that I might more certain be than of this hand of mine that before me bloodied lies, pale against the smirched earth.

Would that the Void would come upon me, if only that I might be able to give shape and form to the formless shadow of the song that lingers yet in this corrupted heart.... Would that I could, by my feeble willing, will all undone, and the world at an ending... Would that 'twere within my power, for better it were that the world had never been, than that it had lived to see our deeds and thus fall low in ignominy.

O sky, wish that no breezes might ruffle thy solitude! O earth, no more tremble, nor cast thy mountain peaks high against the sky! O seas, cherish no more your tides, nor nourish more the seething multitudes. Part now, my friends, and let never more the swift wind of life touch your skin. And may you find, beyond dust's reach and darkness, your last solace and rest... For your eyes have seen the restless face of our hatred, and never more shall rest find you, here beneath the vaulted heavens of the World that Is.
