"Deth, check out that guitar!" Darry pointed to the glossy black instrument displayed in the music store window.

"Can you play that?" Deth looked at him, half-smiling. Their date had gone well so far, Darry had been planning it for weeks, he wanted it to be perfect. He was ecstatic that she had said yes-- he had planned the stupidest, most romantic stunt he could think of, and was going to be out two-hundred bucks if she had said yes or no. He didn't mind, though, he had seen the way her eyes traveled over his face at the pizza place they had gone to for dinner, she was happy, and for the time being, they had both forgotten her dream. He was about to do the most retarded thing he had ever done for a girl-- but it just felt right.

"Are you kidding? Come on." He grabbed her hand, lacing his fingers through hers, and led her inside. The walls were hung with dozens of guitars; shining electrics, glossy acoustics, even a few banjos. Boxes of guitar pics littered the floor, gleaming in the light coming from the neon signs and bulbs hanging from the walls and ceiling.

"Wow…" She breathed, touching the strings of a black bass.

"Do you play?"

"A little. I used to be in a band in High-School." She reminisced, turning to look at him.

"A band, huh? Were you called the Smokers?" He grinned. Their faces were inches away from each other, lips almost touching. She looked into his eyes, and he into hers, and then the lights cut out.

"What the Hell?!" Merideth tilted her head back to look up. All the lights were out, the store was completely dark.

"Hmmm. It. Must. Be. A. Power. Outage." Darry observed mechanically. His date lifted an eyebrow-- Darry was the worst actor in the world.

"What is this?" She asked her eyes narrowing suspiciously.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Darry shook his head, picking up a nearby acoustic and slinging the strap over the back of his neck, he plucked the strings a little, bending his face over it, his hair hanging over his face.
"What are you doing?" She took a step towards him, but at that moment he began to play;

"The Strands in your eyes;

That color them wonderful,

Stop me,

And steal My breath…

Emeralds from mountains;

Thrust towards the Sky-y-y…

Never revealing their depth…"

He warbled, his voice was shaking, but it still sounded great, when he looked up, he saw Merideth blushing bright russet, not looking at him, but the floor.

"Tell Me!

That we belong together…

Dress it up,

In the trappings of Lo-o-o-ove,

I'll be captivated,

I'll Hang from your lips…

Instead of the gallows,

Of heartache,

That hang from abo-o-o-ove…"

He struck the corosponding chord and the tube lighting lining the ceiling lit up, Showering Deth with their neon blue and pink light, he could see her smiling widely, her eyes on his.

"And I'll be!"

Somewhere near the back of the store, a few other guitars and a bass began to play in harmony, she looked towards the noise and saw the employees of the store brandishing instruments, and a breathless laugh burst out from her lungs.

"Your crying shoulder-er!

I'll be!
Love suicide,

And I'll be!

Better when I'm olde-er…

I'll be,

The greatest fan of your life…"

The lights came back on as he took a step towards her, his serenade over. He had barely gotten the guitar off of himself before her arms twisted around his neck and her lips pressed against his. He was surprised at first, but his arms found their way about her waist and they lingered in each others lips for a moment before she pulled gently away.

"How much did this cost you?" Deth murmured after a moment, smirking.

"Eh, Two Hundred Bucks." He shrugged. "Was it worth it?"
"Oh yeah." They kissed again, and there was the sound of applause from the employees, followed by chuckling. They didn't care, they twisted around each other and somehow managed to walk out into the night without tripping over one another's feet.
